Headcanon Voice: Alessandro Juliani

Personality: Marinus van der Lubbe is an anti-social, self-loathing and gloomy individual who hides himself from everyone due to his guilt and shame of what his actions of setting the Reichstag on fire caused for history. He blames himself for many things (especially for WWWII) and considers himself "a champion of failure". He is often depressed and prefers to be alone and keep himself isolated from others, not because he prefers it that way but because he believes himself to be too dangerous.

Powers and Weapons: Pyrokinesis: Marinus van der Lubbe has control over fire energy. He can shoot streams of flames from his hands and can burn anything he touches at will. His body is almost always constantly on fire.
Flight: Marinus van der Lubbe can fly.

Weaknesses: Constantly depressed, is weak to water

Bio: Marinus van der Lubbe was once a Dutch communist who lived in the 1930's and had a pretty unfortunate life. He had wanted to move to the Soviet Union at the time, but lacked the funds to do so. He ended up moving to Germany instead. Marinus van der Lubbe's life didn't get much easier, as he found it hard to get any employment there and already got himself in trouble for arson many times. Marinus found himself strongly disliking Germany's fascist rule at the time and also was a strong supporter for the unemployed worker's movement going on. Marinus eventually had enough and then set the Reichstag on fire, in where he acted alone on it. His goal was to rally the German workers against fascist rule.

Unfortunately for Marinus, things would only get worse. Marinus was caught and arrested on the charges of treason and arson and was later tried. He was found guilty and then executed via guillotine. Regardless of his intentions, the Reichstag fire allowed the Nazis to rise to power and much more terrible events in history would follow because of it....

When Marinus van der Lubbe appeared in Hell, Marinus van der Lubbe slowly found out the consequences of his actions upon finding more people who died during Nazi Germany's rule. It only got worse when World War II really kicked in, and it all became too much for Marinus van der Lubbe who became so distraught over it that he fled Pentagram City and then ran so far away. Marinus believed himself to be a fugitive and knew that many demons would want his head for (albeit indirectly) causing the Nazis rise to power and by that extent, causing WWII to happen. Because of this, Marinus van der Lubbe has made himself a recluse. He has been sighted on some occasions by other demons, but quickly goes away as soon as he's spotted. As such he's considered to be something of a "cryptid" to the Hellborns.

Having heard of the Hazbin Hotel, Marinus van der Lubbe has pondered about joining....but isn't sure he can forgive himself...
