Description Kawanishi's N1K was originally built as a floatplane fighter to support forward offensive operations where no airstrips were available, but by 1943 when the aircraft entered service, Japan was firmly on the defensive, and there was no more need for a fighter to fulfill this role.

It was probably shipped to US mainland on board of USS "Core Norfolk" with other Japanese planes for testing and evaluation. It's is unclear if he was captured in times of war or after it's end and taken directly from Japan. There is not too much information about it's fate, possible it was moved to one of museum and repainted in to original camouflage.
