I'm gussing you either haven' read the book series 'Warriors' or haven't got far. Brightheart and another cat, Swiftpaw wanted to prove there loyality(someone please correct me if I'm wrong, been awhile since I read that book). There was a pack of dogs on their territory and snuck off the fight them alone. Swiftpaw was killed, Brightheart with half her face torn off.

I know, she was later renamed "Lost face" by Blue star when they thought she was dieing. I was talking about her art, the last time she drew Brightheart her ear and face look more mauled and better how I originally imagined.
