Description Just a quick sketch of Ilda von Harzberg, the German Women Warrior..

This time, in WWII Wehrmacht Military Uniform! Historical Accuracy is not intended, as i just drew from imagination

Maybe when there is time, i will expand my project on Women Warriors to WWI and/or WWII in the near future

I think there's plenty of interest/fetish for Women in Nazi Uniform out there in DA...I wonder why?

I would love to see more women from world war eras. Soviet Union could provide many authentic female warriors.Β

Actually Hugo Boss only manufactured the uniforms and did not design them.Β

The infamous black uniform itself came into being in 1932 and is said to have been designed by an artist and senior SS officer called Karl Diebitsch, who worked with a graphic designer called Walter Heck.

Neither man worked for Hugo Boss.

You may have drawn from sheer imagination, but it is quite easy to see which period of time she belongs in.

I like how you gave weight in her eyes! And hair is done very nicely. Fantastic! I too don`t understand what`s the big deal with that Nazi women fetish... Maybe because Hugo Boss designed uniforms? Who knows?

bastler [2014-03-07 10:11:42 +0000 UTC]

Because they were designed by Hugo Boss! Yes that Hugo Boss. They were intended to look "good" and also intimidating.

oh that's cool... and yeah WW2 is part of my own history my grandfather fought in the war as a bomber pilot for a Halifax bomber that was named Friday the 13th

oh and question will you end up adding Violette Szabo to the list of warrior women in WW2 as well? she was a french/English assassin in WW2 though she only did two missions (was sadly captured, tortured and killed) she did a lot for her country.
And fun fact there is a video game where you play as her called Velvet Assassin in 2009 the game is really awesome, though here's more info on her if your interested

I haven't hear of Violette Szabo until you pointed the link, but I've read about Matahari before. Thanks for pointing that out

It must have been interesting to know someone who fought in the great wars, i envy you!

Very good picture. Nicely detailed. I also like the look on her face. She's not exactly happy, is she? She looks kind of...sorry...or sad...

Ooooh, I just know I'll love your WWI and WWII Women Warriors.
I can send you some Polish Women's Auxilliary Service (Pomocnicza SΕ‚uΕΌba Kobiet, who were actually in the British Army, ha ha) if you want - I have a lot of those as I do their reenactment. Both original photos from digitalised archives and some modern photo sessions of my friends, sisters and me. And I have some WAAF (Women's Auxilliary Air Force - British) photos as well.

Sure the Nazis were some of humanity's absolute worst. But the flash, the glitz associated with them- eye catching for sure.Β Β  Evil is many things- practical is rarely one of them.

Yeah, the Nazi did some pretty nasty things, but like all things evil, they are bound to fall apart one day.

Straight to the point: looks like a Nazi! (kinda cool, in a way). Historically, they were females in all Nazi institutions, and they were more 'effective' (I mean better killers) than their male counterparts! (obviously, not a good thing) Β

Really beautiful, she is really cool!

Well the uniforms are designed by Hugo Boss, most people of the world agree, that the SS-Uniforms
were the best looking every created. So a women in such clothes, appear also sexy^^ ThatΒ΄s the reason
many people love men or women in german uniforms, even when theyΒ΄re completely non-political.

Just one thing, be careful with the form of the iron cross, this is the correct one:

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

Yours looks a bit like the maltese one.

ThatΒ΄s not meant bad of course, just constructive critik^^

The rest is wonderful as always!

My german freund! Thank you ever so much for giving such detailed feedback!

You are indeed correct, HUGO BOSS really designed some of the best uniform for the SS back then. Even to this day, they style can never go old, and WW2 german uniforms still looked pretty stylish

I have to fix the cross, as i wasn't really paying attention on the different types of cross. At the moment i'm still researching on WW2 Wehrmacht military ranks, which i would attribute to her character instead of the noble titles.

I know that you do a great perfectionistic job with your projects, so itΒ΄s a pleasure to support you!

If you need SS-ranks, you can look here, the first one in this overview is the highest, ReichsfΓΌhrer-SS was in
reality Himmler, IΒ΄m not sure if Ilda will have the same rank, or a lower rank:

Oh and this guy from Finland is doing reenactment on this uniforms, maybe u wanna check his gallery:

I'm studying about WW1 and WW2 now, it's so interesting to know that during that time women were participating at wars,

then after that, woman emancipation was begun.

Indeed, the movement of women's suffrage could be traced back to the late 19th century and began to get a lot of attention in the 20th century. I haven't really read much about them, but i'm sure there's plenty of good information in it!

Thanks joe!

I'm not sure how the carpathian would looked like, have to research the Hungarian or Romanian uniforms...

I think I've seen you drawing some Romanian ww2 Infantry and making a joke about the helmet...cant remember which one

CapturedJoe In reply to Gambargin [2014-03-08 15:27:48 +0000 UTC]

If you'd ever decide to draw a Carpatian uniform, I recommend giving the officers a kepi (a bit like this i103.photobucket.com/albums/m1… ), both Hungarians and Romanians had those things in WW1.

If you did, you didn't put it in the comments at least.
