A (failed) attempt at drawing Indian Woman Warrior of Project: Blood and Steel, a part of Historically Wrong Sketch Series based on the 17th Century Era. Now, she supposed to represents the Indian faction in the series, although her style and attires are a an anachronistic combination between the Mughals and Marathas that ruled prominently in the subcontinent. There aren't that many Indian Female warriors here, so hope this can contribute

The Indian subcontinent is no stranger to women warriors, from the dawn of their historical epic such as the Marayana, to the time of their conflict with the british in the 19th century, many women, from simple commoners to queens of powerful rajput state, fought against their enemies and were revered by the Indian people, even to this day. It is also home to some of the world's largest, richest and most powerful empires since the dawn of ages, rivaling the other great superpowers of the world. When we look at the period of 16-17th century, the land saw the rise of the Indo-persian Mughal Empire that carved their legacy in the subcontinent. The mughals themselves were not of Indian origin, rather, its founder can be traced back to that of Timurids of Mongol lineage. Their richest were incomparable to others, and it was said that when one wage war against the Mughals, they'd be amazed not only by their sheer size and strength, but also by their extravagance display of wealth. India is a land of majesty, as such, their great history deserves a mention in this series.

In this drawing, Maharani Sridevi Kshyatriyapati is the Empress Regnant of the Indian Jaganavanshi Rajputana, a powerful sub-continental empire that is on the brink of war with their Persian neighbors. The term Jaganavanshi can be translated (in a very bad way) as sons of Jaganath, or world ruler, another form of Vishnu (this is also where the name Juggernauts is derived). She is the descendant of the previous queen regnant Rani Indira Kshyatriyapati , who, through successful political marriage and other complex political alliances, managed to brought her clan as the sole ruler of the empire.

The attires of Maharani Sridevi is somewhat very stylized and anachronistic, more fictious than fact (justified, it's still a concept ). The head jewelries and accessories are probably more suited to be worn in court than in battle, but to be able to wear such expensive items really displays her status as a wealthy and powerful empress....if you are curious about the cost, it's somewhere around $15,000 - $22,000 in today's money. As for her armor, it's a highly stylized and ornate form of Mughal's chain mail and mirror plate, that costs on average at least $10,000, depending on the level of artistic touch made. Perhaps, she may not be the most heavily armed and armored warrioress in the series, but given her status and power, she could easily trample any opposing force with millions of her soldiers, while riding on the back of her elephant

I will probably draw her in a more proper armor next time....the Indians were known for their extravagant armor and weapons that brings a message of awe and death in the battlefield - like this one

The total cost of her outfit can buy me a BMW, making it the most expensive attires in the entire series of Women Warriors I have drawn (yet)
