In order to have peace, countries go to war. In their homeland, soldiers are treated as if they are saviours. In the enemy country, civilians look at them as if they are monsters. We often see soldiers looking like heroes and their enemies as evil people, but that is only a facade. Both sides, the soldiers, the civilians, and the environment suffer.

Roses, although beautiful, will always have their thorns.
War, although justified by the government, will always show its ugly side.

Used America from the anime Hetalia for this because he shows both his "fun" and "dark" side easily.

This doesn't just apply to one country, guys. Every country whether we like it or not has a bloody history which not even Time can fully erase.
