Joy's Note: Hot dogs are a favorite treat among a lot of people. You can get them anywhere, from baseball games to street fairs. But despite their name, hot dogs aren't really made of dogs. They're actually made of pork, which comes from pigs. But what if hot dogs really WERE made of dogs? Wouldn't it be funny to see a dog running around in a bun with ketchup and mustard on its back? It probably would. That's why DA's new tutorial focuses on drawing literal hot dogs - half food, half animal. This tutorial gives artists a great opportunity to draw a character based on a play on words. Since I enjoy wordplay, I decided to give it a try myself.

This particular hot dog is a dachshund, also known as a wiener dog. I chose to draw this kind of dog because not only do wiener dogs have an appropriate name, but they're also quite long and skinny, just like a sausage. (In fact, dachshunds are actually called "sausage dogs" in British English.) There have also been plenty of pictures on the Internet of dachshunds dressed in hot dog costumes, so I guess it wouldn't be long before someone drew a picture of a dachshund as a literal hot dog. And of course, DA has given us the chance to do it.

This hot dog dachshund may look cute and playful, and doesn't mind being topped with mustard, ketchup, and relish, but it's probably not a good idea to eat it.
