My finals for one of the classes I’m in where we had to base the art on the artists we learned about. I was inspired by the works of Katharina Grosse and Yayoi Kusama as well as basing the art on being stuck inside due to the pandemic. I decided to focus on Grosse’s use of trees in her work because the pandemic has led me to miss being outside in nature and I wanted to contrast that with man-made stuff we’re surrounded by daily in our houses. This was created through Photoshop.
The first one is like thinking "inside a box," which I had to do while trying to take into account taking into account the perspectives of the wall then adjust the angles of the paint to make it appear to be painted onto the walls as realistically as possible. The second one’s main idea piece is a tree that is dead from being chopped down has brought life to a living room. The third piece has the colors form a shape of a lung because it is like we not been getting any fresh air due to being stuck inside. I was also aiming to go with something that's a bit like the opposite of the brain, which is thinking inside the box, but this one is thinking about getting out of it.
I used sites like unsplash.com to get these pictures to edit. They're sites with free to use images according to my teacher, but I still want to credit and give thanks to the people who made the original unedited versions of the pictures I used. Without them and their amazing pictures, I wouldn't have been able to make these.
