Okay...so this isn't me. But this is my wife(girlfriend at the time these pictures were taken). This is an assortment of pictures of her in her Steam Dress Cosplay from the video game Alice Madness Returns. I am posting this because I am the one that built the hobby horse. ^___^ In addition to loving to draw, I love to make props and do sculpting. This thing was, on one hand, a huge challenge, and on the other, so much fun to do. I'm posting full cosplay pictures instead of just the prop because I feel that it's nothing without the full outfit.

There are so many materials that went into the construction of this hobby horse. Cardboard, expanding foam, more cardboard, more expanding foam, paper mache, wonderflex, gesso, masking tape... This was the first prop that I have built on this scale, and I must say it was a learning experience. I have seen some other hobby horses done, but they didn't have the detail that I was looking for. (Not to take anything away from what others have done. This is a beast of a build and no easy undertaking.) So I set out to make the best prop I could. I made it as accurate to the game as I could with the materials I was using. And I even made the eyes where they can light up as you can see in the first picture. There is a lot more that I wanted to do to this prop, but I completely ran out of time. I do plan, however, to do another one in the future that is clay sculpted, silicone molded, and fiberglassed to be a much more quality prop.

I also had a hand in making the clock bow as well, which itself was a challenge. The credit for the costume goes to my wife and sister. My sister is an amazing seamstress(search username Mehdia on cosplay.com and see for yourself) and passed a lot of that knowledge to my wife. I'll just stick to building stuff. HAHA

Last thing I must mention is that this was my wife's first cosplay for her first anime convention. This costume won best crafstmanship in the video game cosplay contest at A-Kon in 2012 and won first place in one of the categories(can't remember which one) at our local convention Anime Blues Con. I couldn't have been more proud and happy for her.
