Because it's flat-chested whore flavor, Sergeant.
Sounds like an epic punchline.

Love the joke.

This also points out the problems of free falling drop pods. Every time I see a drop pod being used in games/shows/movies and how they slam into the ground like a meteor (such as Halo), I always make a similar comment that the space marines here make. The only ones I don't make that comment are in Starship troopers (who made the concept of drop pods first and had used real science in how they work (basically, they need to slow down in the atmosphere or there would be nothing left of the pod or occupant when they hit the ground)) and Warhammer 40K (because of age and as far as I'm aware (I haven't read the codex) magic is used in the tech (and once that happens, anything is possible)).

magick is not used but rockets and air brakes are used. and only enhanced super soldiers are transported in it in lore.

The reason why it's only meant for Space Marines... The can survive the G's, am I right?

battlebrothertherix In reply to Lizren [2013-08-11 12:21:59 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Though in the game Fire Warrior, a single Tau footsoldier gets into one, drops onto a planet, walks away from the impact and proceeds to bring the hurt to most of Chaos.

To be fair, that was not a normal Tau Warrior.

battlebrothertherix In reply to The-Harbinger-FA [2015-05-03 11:01:29 +0000 UTC]

In theory, it was. He was normal until he proved his exceptional skills during that conflict.

Did they die cos of impact or cos the marine minced them?

I think it was the G's... Way to many G's.

And this still doesn't get nearly as bad as reinforcing under -pheromones-.

Did they ever fix that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaRKkrish In reply to SkarmoryThePG [2009-11-05 07:40:40 +0000 UTC]

What does he mean? And why exactly did the Eldar turn to Jelly?

Was it cause only the Space Marines in their armour could withstand deep striking? The Pods landed ON them? Or that's how the commander opted to load them onto the pods?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SkarmoryThePG In reply to DaRKkrish [2009-11-10 17:44:32 +0000 UTC]

There is a certain level of acceleration at which the human body will be turned to mush.

There is also a certain level of acceleration at which a space marine, with his armor and augmentation, will be unharmed.

The crash-landing speed of a drop-pod lies between the two.

Thx I should have realized that when she said "I don't care who they were made for.."

But also what did you mean by
"And this still doesn't get nearly as bad as reinforcing under -pheromones-.
Did they ever fix that?"
Googled didn't find anything(you'd want to know about), I imagine it was funny though(if that's what it was)

The Tyranid Lictor commander has an ability, Pheromone Cloud. He spreads a, well, a cloud of pheromones that attract Tyranids to found prey - in game terms, this lets Tyranid units within the cloud reinforce as if they were next to a base. The silly part is that allied, non-Tyranid units can (could?) also reinforce while in the cloud.

I guess Tyranid pheromones smell -that- delicious or something?

That was pretty hilarious in more ways than one that really brighten my day seeing this, due the Eldar where supposed to be or rather the Farseer should have seen this coming since they possess the ability of Foresight to see the future.
