The bunny one doesn't have a gender, and you'd have to see the anime or read the manga to understand why people have tears.

That is definitely not the reason. It is probably one of the saddest backstories in an anime. If you don't mind the emotions you should check it out. Anime is called "Made in Abyss". After watching it I think you will understand why people might get emotional over it.

Technically, Nanachi never identified as male or female, using gender neutral nouns when referring to themselves, and no one else ever calls them male or female, either.
