I always preferred this pairing over the Louis/Janine one from the sequel, although it's probably because Egon was always my favourite ghostbuster and as such, I would identify with him the most. And Janine was total babe in the second movie.

I still don't get why they gave Egon a blonde hair in the cartoon series, though.

I agree. I find the Louis/Janine pairing felt rushed. Also don't see Peter as someone who would date a single parent. At least not the cartoon version.

From what I heard, the reason why the changed the designs so much is because they were ordered to do that. I think it has something to do with copyrights of the actors. Ernie Hudson wanted to do Winston's voice, but they refused him. :/

I forgot what Harold Ramis' excuse for changing the pairing was (it's been a while since I listened to the commentary tracks) but he felt that Louis and Janine made a better couple. I still disagree.

Yeah, that's a weird thing Hudson was turned down. I have to wonder if it was some sort of a guild- or union-related thing. I mean, for example, Spielberg was originally going to direct Return of the Jedi, but the Director's Guild or whatever it was had kept fining Lucas for opening his movies without a credit sequence, so Lucas ended up leaving the guild to avoid getting fined for the third time and Spielberg, who remained in the guild, couldn't then direct as it would've meant he'd get fined as well. Looking back at it now, it seems completely idiotic that a movie had to start that way. I can understand it if you omitted proper end credits and declined people from receiving credit as a whole but I can't imagine Star Wars working with opening credits at all.

What were the exact reasons why Harold wanted the change? O.o" I heard he even found it weird when they paired Egon and Janine in the Cartoon series.

Copyrights can make things unnecessary complicated. But I know from reading one of the main designer's comment that the crew was urged to change the designs. Especially Peter. On top of that Bill Murray can be like a diva. He was also one of the reasons why they changed Peter's voice during the show.

I don't honestly remember what he said there, outside that he felt it wasn't "working out" or something.

Bill Murray being difficult? Yeah, that's hardly news at this point although I'm less amused by the fact that if it wasn't for his willy-nilly attitude with GB3, we'd probably have gotten the third movie with Ramis and the horrible 2016 remake might not exist, either. At least we got the video game in 2009, I'm still surprised that actually happened.

From what I heard, he found it weird/awkward. But I don't know the exact reasons.

Agree with that and most fans(including myself) are salty over that. They should had done that shortly after the second movie. Not even excited over the new third movie (especially hearing it will have kids as main characters).

The third movie for me is the 2009 video game.

Yeah, I believe even Dan Aykroyd went ahead and stated that the video game is essentially the third movie. As for the actual third one, I'm extremely cautious about it. I've learned not to trust Hollywood with sequels that arrive decades after the original movie(s).

Same here. Sadly, many nostalgia based movies have been failures. Especially when it comes to reboots. Reboots usually work when the original version was not good or unfinished.

Agreed. Both versions of Scarface are pretty good in their own way, and The Maltese Falcon is one of those rare movies that they only got right the third time they made it.
