-I doodled this for a friend and now, a year later, I finally have a reason to finish it XD.I want to see the episode but first I must watch the previous episodes.

About time it's happening between the two as Jackie is getting more prominent this season and the fact that she was the one who asked Marco out was surprising. I was also enjoying how this episode took down Starco shippers down a peg. lol Ignoring Marco's development and vilifying Jackie's character as well as justifying Star's envious behavior...

They're obviously gonna get together. It's litterally the only driving force of this show. No one's watching it for the "story".

While I agree that it's pretty obvious that they'll get together, I don''t agree that no one is watching SVtFoE for the story. I do. I am not interested in shipping personally, and what entertained me most this season so far were the Ludo, Buff Frog and Glossaryck focused episodes (and that one "Inception" inspired episode with Star going into her wand and learning stuff about past Princesses of Mewni and who defeated Toffee). And I know from reading online comments on sites like KissCartoon that there's at least a few more people like me.
So I don't agree that Star hooking up with Marco is "literally" (Lori Loud) the only driving force behind the show. I believe that's the impression people get because the most vocal part of the fanbase talks about shipping constantly, and thus it generates the most Internet discussion. But there is a sizable if mostly silent part of the fanbase who watches the show and is neutral on the whole shipping business

Honestly, I said that cause I didn't think anyone would reply. Yea, people watch it other than the ship, I wanna see what Luddo's gonna do. But, that's kinda it. I never cared about what's going on with Buttfrog or the food shortage, part of that's with the humor. A lot seems to fall flat and a joke would over stay it's welcome. This seems consistent with almost every episode and it started on the first episode.
Nothing happened, Marco was trapped in a closet the whole time and I couldn't believe that was the season opener. The following luddo episode was much better, but I thought he was gonna be a more competent villain like Toffe.

That is fine. I have no problem with your personal preference and your view that the comedy in the series often doesn't work for you, all I'm saying is that this doesn't necessarily go for all of the viewership. One shouldn't generalize all viewers, is all I'm saying.
Yeah I wasn't wowed by the Marco trapped in the closet episode either, but the Ludo episode with him stranded on what turned out to be Mewni more than made up for it, for me at least. It reminded of a Samurai Jack episode, except with an intentionally disgusting villain as protagonist.
Personally I find that they've towed the line quite well with making Ludo quite competent while still giving him a charismatic role with plenty of possibilities for comic relief (how he overcame the Eagle, SPider and Rats and maDe them his pets/slaves all required resourcefulness and competence). He occupies a role that Toffee couldn't be filling, since Toffee was more of 100% serious villain, which has its limitations as to what types of episodes one can write with him as antagonist. Β

It's weird, I have not seen the episode yet, but seeing this picture already tells me that the starco ship is getting sunk. I honestly ship between Star and Marco, but in the show they don't see each other more than friends. They see themselves as brothers and sisters. I can get behind that. But I actually see them being together, but it ain't gonna happen. Dreams are dreams. They all can't be real. That's the fact we all have to deal with. I'm sorry if I sound negative. I was too into shipping before and that got me down when something happened (*cough Adventure Time *cough*). But we do it because we like it and love the chemistry between two characters. Who knows, maybe it'll turn up someday.
