Description ...yeah. :/

In Spanish, instead of doing a unit on Dia de Los Muertos, our teacher decided to be unique and make us do a project on La Llorona instead. She wanted a visual interpretation of what we think she looks like (this of course was left to me because I'm "the artist" >< ), and then the other half is some kind of performance that reflects the story. The rest of my group gets to handle that with the puppet they're making because I'm not going to be there on Monday.

There's a lot of interpretations of the story of La Llorona, but the one we looked at was of a woman who fell lin love with a man in her village and bore him children. But this man, after a time, lost interest in her and her children and left her for another woman. Out of spite for him, she drowned the children in the Rio Grande and stabbed herself in grief.

When she approached the gates of Heaven, God asked her where her children are, to which she says she doesn't know. God then condemned her to walk the Earth until she finds her children. She searches all over the world for her children, crying and moaning in grieving because she cannot find them...(look her up on Wikipedia if you want more/better info)

...yeah : x That's basically it. I totally went overboard with this whole project; it was supposed to be a picture, not a movie poster. >>;; But this fucker gave me so much hell, you cannot even fathom. I don't even know how many thumbnails I sketched trying to figure out how to draw the thing before I just decided to incorporate my best ideas into one picture. (I was going to put an arm flailing out of the river, but I was sure my teacher would have been like "WHOA are u havng love isshoos at home???!1! D:" and given us an F.)

I guess this'll have to suffice for my Halloween picture. I'm going to have no energy between now and Halloween, or even immediately after for that matter, not to mention no access to my scanner. =___=

I didn't think this really deserved to be in Macabre/Horror :/ It's not Macabre-y enough, so I just put it in People *shot for miscategorization*

HI!I would like to use your pictures to illustrate an interactive digital book, nonprofit, to low-income children in Mexico. The intention is to bring them to reading through the book-album format (little quality text and images)

La llorona is one of the, if not the, most commond legends in MΓ©xico. It's kinda violent, but i find it rather sad. I remember my cousin once went camping, and his girlfriend started making weeping sounds and say: "ay mis hijos" while he was at the river. He got so scared he couldn't sleep for a long time XD

Anyways, awesome images and colors, i loved her eyes and mouth. awesome work!

Here in mΓ©xico, la Llorona's almost as renowned as Micheal Jackson and there are, at least, five hundred versions of her legend But the official version's the one on wikipedia.

She gives me the creeps! D:

I'd have to say this is the best version of it I've seen!!!

The only flaw with this is that some might confuse this with the work of this artist I think he made have had his work out before you so some might call this for his work, or call you with some copyright infringement. The fact that he speaks mostly Spanish doesn't help you much either...

Overall a kickass work!!!
