Character
Name: Beetlekit | Beetlepaw | Beetlefur | Beetlestar
[Beetle] - He was named after a beetle because of his shiny, dark pelt.
[Fur] - (see above)
Clan: ShadowClan
Age: 30 moons
Rank: Leader
Gender: Cis male
Appearance details: His black fur is medium-length and coarse, the only exception being a white chin and a white blaze on his chest. He has long feathery whiskers and his ears are black-tipped. He has a medium, sturdy build.
History
Beetlekit was born in the old forest long before the Great Journey was made to the Fjords. He arrived in late leaf-fall, and was named appropriately after a shiny black beetle that had peacefully scuttled to the tip of a nearby twig to check out the commotion, affectionately pointed out by his father. Although his first few moons in the forest were warm and lovely, full of vigorous training and lots of learning, the drought became a serious problem towards the end of his apprenticeship. He had always been very eager to work and showed great interest in learning. He had never been too ambitious, but only wanted to do what would make him better as an individual, so that his Clanmates could be proud of him and see how much he's grown. However, he only vaguely recalls what this peaceful, innocent life was like before the disease began to take its toll on the Clans.
Unfortunately for Beetlepaw, his warrior ceremony would have to wait. As the Clans spiraled into deeper trouble, there was suddenly no time for regular training, and all efforts were to be put towards keeping the Clan alive. Feeling helplessly guilty at his uselessness during the Clan's time of distress, Beetlepaw spent much of his time hurrying around camp and helping any cat that he could with any task that they asked of him. He was so eager to help, to prove his worth, that he would often wear himself out, day after day, due to being on his paws for such a large portion of his time. Ever since, he's been extremely diligent with all of his tasks, as if he still thinks that the fate of the Clan rides on his ability to shoulder the responsibilities. He never quite grew out of the "hard-worker" mentality that he was forced to develop at that age.
Beetlefur was finally given his warrior ceremony, much later than he had hoped, a couple of moons before they left to make the journey to the Fjords. Like his Clanmates, he was weakened by fatigue and undernourishment, but his new name gave him a powerful morale boost, and his undying loyalty to ShadowClan never wavered. He was left with a strong hope that he could help to rebuild the Clan just as he had fought to keep it alive in their old home. The journey was long and hard, and Beetlefur suffered losses along the way (his parents Snowcloud and Blackfall stayed in the lake territories due to their old age), but he was always able to muster just enough energy to push himself a bit further on the hope that the new land would be even more glorious than the last. He always tried to stay positive in hopes that his Clanmates would do the same.
Sure enough, Beetlefur’s efforts were not in vain, and he was able to stand among his Clanmates as they emerged in the Fjords. After the sorrowful death of the leader that had guided them along, Beetlefur received a great shock when he was appointed to be the new deputy of ShadowClan due to his incredible endurance, integrity, and dedication. His mentor, and now his new leader Wolfstar, trusted him immensely due to the personal bond that they had formed. Honored at first, Beetlefur vowed to support ShadowClan through thick and thin, despite being extremely young for a deputy. However, he quickly began to doubt his new rank, as he felt unsure that he was qualified enough.
Beetlefur was not deputy for long. In the quarter-moon leading up to the present, Beetlefur pushed himself very hard to grow accustomed to this new responsibility, though wary and doubtful. Suddenly, shockingly, Wolfstar, who had been expected to take the fate of ShadowClan into his own paws, dropped his rank as leader and relinquished the title to Beetlefur, to become Wolfheart and live once again as a warrior. Beetlestar (he has adopted the suffix -star along with the other leaders, despite not being given his nine lives due to StarClan's absence) now faces challenges that he's never dreamt of facing before, and must now shoulder the immense responsibility of the entire Clan. He's very young and inexperienced (and had only been a deputy for a quarter-moon previously), and he has little confidence that he is the right cat to be in charge, but he's determined not to back out the way his successor Wolfheart had. There's rarely a time when Beetlestar is not exhausted to the core and is hyper-aware of what ShadowClan thinks of their leader.
About
Personality:
Thoughtful - Beetlestar doesn’t like to rush. He thinks that sitting down and giving any situation some good thought is always the best course to take, and he always does his best to address everybody’s needs, if he can.
Fair - As mentioned, he always considers both sides. His punishments and verdicts aren’t cruel, but he doesn’t simply dismiss wrongdoings either. He likes to stick by the book.
Humble - He refrains from bragging and/or drawing unnecessary attention to himself. Very modest, and selfless as well, preferring to put the needs of others before his own.
Stern - He’s often got so much on his mind that he doesn’t feel as if he has time for any hold-ups. As a result, his orders are always firm and final.
Ascetic - Beetlestar can be extremely tough on himself. He doesn’t consider himself to be any higher than the law, but sometimes this can lead to him being far too critical of his own mistakes. When he can’t succeed in being helpful or a good example, this is immensely disappointing for him, and he’ll react extremely negatively.
Direct - As previously mentioned, Beetlestar doesn’t have any time for dilly-dallying or for beating around the bush. At his best, he’s very honest and genuine. At his worst, he’s downright blunt, almost to the point where it’s insensitive.
Withdrawn - He isn’t keen on sharing his thoughts with just anybody. This isn’t a deliberate act, of course; he simply doesn’t invest as much time thinking about himself as he should, so as a result, he often isn’t even aware that there isn’t anything to be said at all. He’s always very private about his troubles, which can lead to him feeling quite lonesome.
Tense - With so much on his mind, it isn’t so easy for him to truly relax. There’s always something else to be done. He’s so unfamiliar with the gentle, soothing touch of another cat that he’s incredibly awkward with any sort of intimate situation.
Overanalytical - Although giving a situation lots of thought is usually a good thing, in Beetlestar’s case, it can be a terrible thing as well. He often overthinks even the smallest of details without realizing that he’s doing it. Suddenly, a seemingly trivial issue is a major contributor to his headache.
Likes: Peace, quiet, fog, birds, napping on warm rocks, the smell of the medicine cat’s den, lazy afternoons, bugs.
Dislikes: Disorder, tension, squirrels, long delays, asking twice.
Other Information:
-His worst fear is complete isolation.
-He has a bit of a "mother duck" complex.
-Despite being born and raised in ShadowClan, Beetlestar highly dislikes the feeling of mud squishing beneath his paws. Instead, he leaps from rock to rock, dry patch to dry patch. He developed an extraordinary knack for recognizing dry/shallow spots of the forest floor on the fly, and as a result he's able to steak across the marsh without being slowed by mud. This is something that he's worked very hard to accomplish, as he mostly taught himself how to do it. Of course, the more familiar he is with the land, the better!
-He knows that his leader made the wrong choice in electing him as deputy, and his confidence is constantly fluctuating. He knows that Wolfheart must have complete faith in him if he was chosen over more experienced cats, but he still doubts if he's worthy of such responsibility. After all, he's still rather young and his accomplishments are unextraordinary; there are plenty of older, more experienced cats that deserve it more than him, and he feels incredibly guilty, as if he's committed a personal wrong against them by being chosen.
-He blames StarClan (or lack thereof) for his burdens. His faith in StarClan was once great, but his entire life was changed around for the worse after StarClan was unable to follow them to the Fjords. If they were present, Wolfheart would not have bailed, and Beetlestar would not have had to become leader. Just as he's bitter with Wolfheart, he's bitter with StarClan as well.

Relationships
Wildfire : Beetlestar's deputy, and one of his best friends. He and Wildfire go way back; they grew up together, training and exploring and sharing their meals. They (plus Blueflower) were inseparable. When Wildfire lost his leg and his tail in the horrific incident as apprentices, Beetlestar had been destroyed with fear that he'd lose one of his closest friends. However, Wildfire made an incredible recovery, due to the near-magical healing work of Blueflower (Bluepaw back then) and her mentor. Beetlestar and Blueflower alike became closer to Wildfire than ever, helping him through his recovery and standing by his side constantly. Their closeness as a trio has never deterred. Beetlestar elected Wildfire to be his deputy because he had witnessed firsthand how resilient his best friend could be, and Beetlestar also has incredible trust and faith in him. Nowadays, the three are so close that they even sleep together in the same nest each night. What could that mean?
Blueflower : Another one of Beetlestar's closest friends. Blueflower is very dear to Beetlestar and completes the trio along with Wildfire. Beetlestar would often defend Blueflower's lack of fur to anyone who would listen, and had a tendency to stick close to her in an attempt to warm her up. It's become a bit of a habit for him to press against Blueflower whenever he has the chance, and doesn't seem to notice anything odd about it. Like Wildfire, Beetlestar would trust Blueflower with his life, and spends much of his time consulting her for even his most insignificant concerns. In the present, Beetlestar, Blueflower and Wildfire are incredibly close.
Wolfheart : Wolfheart was once Beetlestar's mentor. At the time, they were very close, and young Beetlepaw hung onto his mentor's every word. They had such deep trust in one another that Beetlefur's appointment to deputy was hardly surprising. However, in recent times, their relationship has taken a sharp downfall. After Wolfheart surrendered his position as leader and left Beetlestar to inherit the responsibility, Beetlestar has grown furious with his mentor, blaming him for forcing him into being the leader of ShadowClan before he was even remotely ready. Beetlestar can no longer stand to look Wolfheart in the eye, and avoids him at all costs.
Cloverstem : Beetlestar's sister and only sibling. They're as close as any, growing up together, training together, and confiding in one another. Beetlestar always feels empowered by the strong presence of his sister and would trust her with his life. Recently, as both of them have started to face hardships of their own, they've become more reserved around one another, but the unspoken connection is still present. When Beetlestar is feeling the most lonesome, he'll seek out his sister, desperate to be with a cat whose scent alone could take him back to how blissful his life was before everything went haywire.
