The second Player Select piece, this one featuring the main characters of two of the most popular fighting games.On the left is Ryu from Capcom's Street Fighter and on the right is Kyo from SNK's King of Fighters.
These two actually did face each other in the Capcom VS SNK games.
I'd say they are quite well-matched. Both are skilled martial artists, with Ryu probably being stronger and more experienced and Kyo having more 'firepower'.
I should point out that the picture of Ryu is highly derivative from his depiction in the art from Namco X Capcom.

Ken and Terry are already on my list.
I plan on matching Sakura with Yuri Sakazaki, but I've been looking into a match for Athena so I'll take this into consideration.
I have been trying to find matches for both Akuma and Iori; I can see the potential of this match, but I haven't decided yet.

Awesome, The reason why I want Sakura vs Athena is because they're both school girls who're into music and they're the main cute girls in fighting games, Sakura vs Yuri would not work, Their moves may be similar however Yuri is not a school girl. That's why Athena is a better option.

In my opinion,Athena vs Sakura wouldn’t work either because Athena is not a school girl , and Sakura is not into music, Sakura vs Yuri would definitely work because they both are young immature girls who have a deep admiration for their brother-like hero (Ryo and Ryu) and both of them want to surpass them and show how skilled they are in martial arts.Athena is not a school girl , she’s a pop singer and idol and she mixes Chinese Martial Arts with psychic powers,In my opinion Chun-Li vs Athena or Rose vs Athena would make more sense

Athena may be an idol yes but she IS also a schoolgirl, For me Yuri vs Sakura wouldn't work because even though they're similar, Yuri is NOT a school girl since she's 20 and Sakura is into dancing, Rose is too old for Athena to fight against.

Athena isn’t a schoolgirl anymore,she use her school uniform because it brings her to her origins and it’s also fan service,Yuri vs Sakura makes a lot of sense because Sakura isn’t a schoolgirl anymore(sfv) and i’ve already exposed the other reasons of why Athena vs Chun-Li or Rose vs Athena is a better match

It does matter, Rose and Athena don't anything in common aside of having psychic powers that doesn't seem to be that much, as for Chun Li, she already has Mai so there's no point to have Chun Li to be rivals with Athena because with Mai and Chun Li they're are the most popular girls in fighting games, Just because they're still teenagers doesn't mean they're not from highschool anymore. You don't even see the similarities on any of the girls related to Athena, or maybe you're just full of denial.

This is one of all time favorite matchups
A funny fact is that now Ryu is 5'9'' with 150 pounds and Kyo is 6' with 167 or so pounds and back then I think they we're the almost height but Ryu was heavier.

Yeah, when I was looking at the official art for both characters Kyo often looked like a young boy compared to Ryu.
Kyo is indeed younger, but according to the stats, Ryu is shorter.

Well Kyo is 20 according to KOF 13 and Ryu well I don't know how old is him but he must be between 25 to 35.

Ryu is a household Superstar. It's a shame Kyo and the rest of SNK isn't as nearly as popular as Capcom.
They deserve it. But bad business decisions and the merge with Playmore that fucked them up.

All the official Capcom VS SNK art pits these two together so I stuck with that. If I made a Street Fighter VS Fatal Fury picture I would have matched Ryu with Terry. Instead I plan on matching Terry with Ken.
