Canon divergence wherein Stan falls into the portal during Not What He Seems, stranding both himself and Ford on the other side of the portal, but with added incentive to get home thanks to the kids.
They’ll get there through time travel hijinks I might illustrate at a later date

I know? Sorry this is confusing me, the photograph Stan's holding of Dipper and Mabel is the same photo we see during Not What He Seems (when the glass shattered), so since Stan fell into the portal following Not What He Seems, this is why he has the photo of them here.
