it would depend when you were there. they took her back to Normandy for a D-Day rememberance, and she goes out on re-enactment voyages, so you might have just missed her for one of those reasons.

ah nice, the Whipple was an active duty ship at that time. I've been lucky enough to have been on board every class of ship in the U.S.Navy including a Los Angeles Class Attack Submarine, a boomer is the only ship type I've never toured.

oooh, 1990 would have been right around Desert Storm, not likely there would have been any tours or open house events on any ships.

they fire her up and take her out a couple times a year.
