The sad face is lower than the happy on. Nature of humanity feel low in sad. Same for the Color Blue but red is blush? And since there is a ring in the hand of the sad one. Either you have fear of being turned down or you were turn down!?! Hope it was the first thought. Go for it

Personally, the concept that jumps out at me is the nature of the corporate world, how it can be a wasteland of conformity, and those in it, while not given the chance to use their creative minds, will appeal happy, but be depressed and hiding it.
