This is a nice piece of work that shows a great sense of your talents in drawing and creating your own rendition of a character from one form to another. Your human design of the original is a strong one as you seem to have a good understanding in the design of anatomy and working more so with facial expressions and gestures through the gesture of the hand as well. It's certainly an approach that works well and one which gives your concept a great deal of animation and personality, making it reflect the energy you intended from the original sketch. You have the potentials to work more with this style and certainly found your method of approach with what you've done here.
