Description
Built to function as the main border patrol frigate for the Galactic Remnant, the Leander would also be one of the few designs approved of by the Galactic Remnant for its inability to do much against far larger ships within their own depleted navy. The design was built around the ability to focus its impressive arsenal of twin heavy laser cannon turrets on small craft and opposing freighters, although it had ion cannons these weapons were mounted on the broadsides which resulted in them having poor firing angles. The forefront of the vessel featured a large port which could function as a standard airlock or if needed it could use a series of powerful drills to bore a hole into an opposing vessel to dispense with its onboard troops onto a potential hostile vessel, this feature made the ship a rather notorious threat to smuggling and pirate operations within its patrol route. Despite classified as a Frigate the Leander was not well known for its firepower and could, in fact, be outgunned by the much smaller New Republic MC35 Escort Frigate.
