Description
The Oakheart Class was a smaller design that was intended to support the larger and more powerful Dreadnought class Space Battleship, the U.S.S. Oakheart SDD-1 was the lead ship of the Oakheart series and the first Destroyer to see service within the fledgling Starfleet's navy. With the introduction of modern warp based Technology the older designs like the Oakheart would be given a second lease on life. The Oakheart herself would serve a long life with Starfleet but it would not be present for the founding of the Federation like many of her sister ships as the U.S.S. Oakheart was lost during the first Xindi attack on Earth when the commander placed the ship in the path of the Xindi beam weapon in hopes of lessening the damage of the weapon on the surface of the planet, the U.S.S. Oakheart would be honered and remebered for years to come with numerous Destroyer classed vessels bearing the name of the U.S.S. Oakheart.
