Did you know the staff was used to represent medicine because of a worm or rather a nematode; ( Dracunculus medinensis ) would burrow under the skin and one would have to make an incision and then wrap the end of the worm round and round' a stick to properly remove said worm without it breaking inside the body? sorry... gross I know.
