Here we have another appearance of the Relics of Dracula: the Medallion of the Beast, the Scepter of the Storm, and the Ring of Dominion. The rumor behind them is that they can enhance specific abilities of a vampire to the degree of that the Vampire King, Dracula. Currently, these relics are in the possession of three of Dracula's most loyal acolytes: Dr. Tesla, Baron Latos, and Baron Meinster. Whether or not these relics can actually augment the bearer's abilities, they are symbols of prestige and power amongst the Vampire Empire and those seeking to claim the absent Dracula's throne aim to collect all three. And there is no vampire who desires to collect all three more than Prince Jakob Von Nachzehrer.

Jakob Von Nachzehrer was a ruler of a minor principality of the Holy Roman Empire in the 18th century. Though a prince, his domain was small and often overlooked by the rest of the empire. Despite this, Nachzehrer dreamed of obtaining more power, even aspiring to become emperor himself. However, his scheming and social climbing all came to naught after a scandalous affair. Though shamed, he would gain a second chance at power once becoming a vampire. But he would then discover that his position hadn't really changed; he was still a minor power in someone else's empire. As before, he dreamed of become the head of this empire, replacing Dracula. However, Dracula couldn't be challenged. At least, not until the Vampire King was seemingly slain in 1890. With Dracula gone, the Vampire Empire is divided into factions. As in life, his faction is small, but he has plans to claim the legendary Relics of Dracula. Alone, he can't challenge Tesla or Latos, but he is older and thus stronger than Meinster. If he can destroy him and obtain the Ring of Dominion, it could give Nachzehrer enough power to put him on equal footing with the other two. He's confident that he will become the one true Vampire King.
Nachzehrer is based off of Torgo Nia, the replacement Lord of the Vampires from Marvel's Tomb of Dracula and Walter Bernhard from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, both being red headed would be Lords of the Vampires. His design was also inspired by Strahd von Zarovich and Richard Roxburgh's portrayal of Dracula in 2004's Van Helsing. The name Jakob is the German version of Jacob, which means "to supplant," and Nachzehrer is a German vampire. He is drawn here with all three of the Relics of Dracula, but still it isn't determined if this is will be "canon" or not. This is just his greatest dream: him as the Vampire King. I gave him the stereotypical super high collared cape that trails on the ground because I wanted him to be as over the top as possible. I wanted him to be an "Anti-Dracula." He tries to look the part, but his actions and behavior is the opposite. If anyone has seen the 2003 Teen Titans, he's Brother Blood to Dracula's Slade. Like the producer David Slack has stated: "In the end, we tried to make him the anti-Slade. Where Slade hides in the shadows, Brother Blood loves the spotlight. Slade always has some ulterior motive, Brother Blood will tell you what he's planning right away."
(Here's a secret. The Relics of Dracula only marginally enhance a vampire's power. The Relics only work at full power for the Acolytes because they were made by Dracula for them specifically. But if a human gets a hold of one the relics, it would give them access to that particular power. But it'll corrupt the bearer the longer they have it.)

STRIGOI
Vampires are created when a mortal is infected by a vampire's own blood. If a victim is killed just by being drained, then there is a chance for them to rise as a minor vampire known as a Strigoi, also known as a vampire spawn. They have all the weaknesses of vampires but lack most of their powers. They only have the basic enhanced strength, speed, senses, and wall climbing. At most, they possess one or two of the more advanced abilities such as hypnosis or flight. They can also be destroyed by sunlight. They can become a full vampire if they consume one's blood, but vampires are elitists, only turning people of affluence and prestige. Strigoi are also completely subservient to their makers. While not unintelligent, they're mostly creatures of instinct and retain little of their original personalities. Also unlike true vampires, they lack eternal youth and beauty, becoming more monstrous over the years. The ghoul on the left is a recent victim while the one on the right is centuries old.
I got the idea for lesser vampires from the ghouls from Hellsing and Vampire Spawn from Dungeons and Dragons. They also represent what I call "Hollywood Vampires," the less supernatural vampires seen in modern movies and TV shows like Blade and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They're fodder for the heroes to kill off easily by the dozen, while in turn true vampires can kill slayers by the dozen. I named them the Strigoi based on the more corpse-like and less intelligent vampires from European folklore.
