ZAMFIR
    Height: 5'8"
Ștefan Zamfir was once a lord of a Romanian village. In the 16th century, Dracula's cauldron of Camazotz attacked Ștefan's village, slaughtering many. Ștefan himself was also caught in the attack, one of the giant bat creatures biting him. Unlike those bitten in previous attacks, Ștefan did not change into a Camazotz. Instead, he fell deathly ill. After days of feverish agony, Ștefan awoke but was forever changed. He felt stronger than ever but found he couldn't withstand the scorching rays of the sun. And he had an unquenchable thirst for blood.
Lord Zamfir had become the first Moroi and would go on the establish his own shadow empire. However, it would remain eclipsed by Dracula's empire until the Vampire King's apparent destruction in 1890. While there are many houses and covens, Zamfir remains as head of the Moroi Council of Elders. Zamfir saw himself and his Moroi superior to the Nosferatu and the Strigoi, believing his kind was a step closer to true immortality. Unlike the undead vampires, the Moroi were still biologically alive. And while the Moroi were weaker, the undead vampires had far more limitations and vulnerabilities. But the vulnerability to the sun would continue to vex Zamfir for the next five centuries.
Over the centuries, Lord Zamfir would continue to mutate and is now starting to resemble a Camazotz. While his mutation makes him stronger, he can no longer blend in with human society. He seeks for a way to withstand the sun and to regain his human visage. With the Vampire Purge, most of the Nosferatu were destroyed, allowing the Moroi to become the most populous race of vampires. But this success only caused them to become the primary target of the Quincey Morris Foundation. And with the resurgence of the Nosferatu, Lord Zamfir is facing losing everything.

PROSPERO
    Height: 6'4"
Dr. Eramus Prospero was once the foremost paranormal researcher for the QMF but left the organization due to a disagreement with former head, Lorrimer Van Helsing. Van Helsing thought Prospero was becoming too involved with the occult was in danger of becoming one of the very evils they fought against. Now living as a recluse in an abandoned castle in Romania, Prospero continues his research in seclusion. He has one of the largest collection of grimoires and magical artifacts, having spent most of his life adding to his collection.
Aside being an authority on monsters, Dr. Prospero is also the most powerful magician that can still be considered human. For his macabre tastes, reclusive nature, and his grim collection, some within the QMF call him a warlock. The fact that Dr. Prospero was born in 1911 and hasn't aged since the 1970s has only increased suspicions. Eric Lambert has since replaced Prospero as the QMF's resident magician. Dr. Prospero also happens to be Lambert's great-uncle (or was is great-great-uncle?) and mentor.
Though he still has his resentments and his despite his dark reputation, he still is on the side of good. Normally, the QMF rely on Lambert's expertise for all of things magical, but there are times where even he needs guidance. Within Dr. Prospero's library lies secrets such as the history of the Atlanteans, Victor Frankenstein's lost research notes, and the location of the soul of Koschei the Deathless. Prospero has compiled his most valuable secrets and spells into a grimoire of his own: the Tome of Madness.

VIKTOR

Year Born: 1505
Year Turned: 1555
Country of Origin: Romania
Titles: Voivode
Height: 6'1"

Generation: One

The man that would come to be known as Viktor the Evil was born in 16th century Moldavia. He idolized Vlad the Impaler and sought to carry on his legacy. He was a mighty warrior with a brilliant strategic mind, which allowed him to conquer parts of Moldavia, Transylvania, and Wallachia in order to form his own fledgling nation, Monsmortia. He was also an alchemist and sorcerer, being one of the most gifted minds of his time. But he was a madman and a genocidal sadist, torturing his enemies and subjects alike. His subjects worked without rest to build his grim castle, which stands as a monument to pain and oppression. Graves were dug up so that the bones of the dead could be used in its construction, and the builders themselves were added to this collection so that the secrets of the castle would only be known to its master.
In 1555, the Voivode of Monsmortia finally gained the attention of Voivode Dracula. Impressed by his cruelty and devotion to the dark arts, Dracula made Viktor a vampire. His transformation only made him an even worse monster than he was in life. Using his increased power and immortality, he crushed any opposition in his campaign to establish Monsmortia as a major power in Europe. However, his increased powers and seemingly invulnerability only fueled his hubris and blinded him to all danger.
He thought no one could withstand his might and that no human army could defeat his army of the undead. He never suspected his own defeat would come at the hands of his own subjects. After half of a century of enslavement and torture, the people began to believe their ruler was a devil in human form. He was over a hundred years old and yet did not age. The presence of monsters in his domain and his ghoulish soldiers only confirmed their suspicions.
He thought he crushed the will of his people, but a peasant uprising in 1605 saw his castle being sieged during the day while Viktor the Evil slumbered. Though only armed with farm tools, the peasants fought against Viktor's inhuman guardians at the cost of their own lives. The fear of death was no longer as horrifying as the fear of living under Viktor's boot, so they fought despite the terrors that awaited them in the castle. It was better for them to rebel and die fighting than to live and to lose their souls to him.
After heavy losses, the mob was able to drive a stake into Viktor's heart, ending his reign. Upon their master's defeat, the army of the dead crumbled. Monsmortia would be dissolved, the conquered lands returned to their rightful territories. The brief history Monsmortia would almost be erased, forgotten by most. Viktor cel Rău would become a cautionary tale for all vampires and the reason why they elect to rule from the shadows. Despite his defeat, Viktor was not destroyed. The peasants were not aware that a vampire needed to be behead, but they did fear that he might return one day. Thus, they sealed his sarcophagus and all maps to his castle were burned.
Centuries later, the lost history of Viktor the Evil was discovered by Dr. Prospero. Traveling to the lands that were once Monsmortia, Dr. Prospero took up residence in Viktor's old castle, making it his own personal library and museum of the arcane. Dr. Prospero has gathered many dangerous items in his castle, but perhaps the most dangerous is the sleeping vampire locked away in the catacombs.

Notes:
As with all Moroi, Lord Ștefan Zamfir is based on the more recent vampire films that take the biological or viral approach to vampirism. His design is based on Marcus Corvinus from the Underworld films and Eli Damaskinos from Blade II. The name Ștefan means "crown" and Zamfir means "sapphire," both chosen to give him a sense of nobility.
Dr. Eramus Prospero is based on Vincent Prince and his character of Vincent Van Ghoul from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, and Dr. Byron Orpheus from the Venture Bros. His name Eramus comes from the 15th century philosopher and a character Vincent Price played in 1981's The Monster Club. His last name Prospero comes from the magician Prospero from William Shakespeare's the Tempest and Prince Prospero from Edgar Allan Poe's the Masque of the Red Death, who was played by Vincent Price in the 1964 film adaptation. Like Van Ghoul, he's a warlock who lives in a castle that occasionally helps out our heroes by providing them a piece of ancient lore and helping them to retrieve a lost artifact (that is if he gets to add it to his collection in the end). He is the most powerful magic user out of the human characters in Blight, only being outclassed by the undead spell casters. His spell book is based on the Necronomicon from the works of H. P. Lovecraft.
Viktor cel Rău is based on Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters II, Ganondorf Dragmire from the Legend of Zelda series, and Kain from the Legacy of Kain series. The idea behind him is that I wanted him to be over the top evil with spiked armor, bone insignia, an Überwald dominion, an army of skeletons and zombies, and a dark castle. His territory, Monsmortia comes from the Latin words meaning "Death Mountain," another reference to Zelda. In the first Zelda game, Ganon's lair was in Death Mountain. His sobriquet, which became his last name, cel Rău means "the Evil" as in Mihnea cel Rău, the son of Vlad the Impaler. Like Vigo, he's a sleeping evil, awaiting to rise again.
