As a young bird, Falco Lombardi joined the Cornerian Flight Academy. There, he befriended Fox McCloud and his close-knit group of cadets. However, the academy just wasn't for Falco, his hot headed nature and impulsiveness often leading to arguments with his instructors. Despite being a great pilot, possibly even better than Fox if not for his temper and ego, Falco dropped out. Afterwards, he would befriend other rebellious teens and formed gang of hot-rodders called "Free-As-A-Bird." One of his fellow hot-rodders, Katt Monroe, developed a crush on him. This infatuation led to friction within the gang, the others accusing Falco of favoritism just because Katt liked him. Frustrated, Falco decided the leave the gang even though he was the leader.
It was then that he again came across his old friend Fox McCloud. Fox had too dropped out of the academy and had been training with Peppy Hare in order to reform Star Fox. Since he recently left his own gang, Falco accepted Fox's invitation to join Star Fox and they were then joined by another old friend, Slippy Toad. The team formed, Star Fox would then be contracted by General Pepper of the Cornerian Army to liberate the Lylat System from the clutches of Andross and his Venomian Empire.
As Star Fox battled across the star system, they would encounter their rival mercenary team, Star Wolf. Just as Fox had a rivalry with their leader, Wolf O'Donnell, Falco had a rivalry with the assassin Leon Powalski. Later, on a mission on the Planet Zoness, Star Fox would receive the unexpected help of Katt. Falco was flustered by Katt's sudden appearance, annoyed by her constant flirting but begrudgingly grateful for the help. She would continue to appear and then suddenly leave throughout their mission across the Lylat System.
Upon arriving at Venom, Falco faced off against Leon again as Star Wolf tried to hinder their path to Andross. After their rivals were forced to retreat, Fox was able to confront Andross and seemingly put an end to him. Returning to Corneria, General Pepper thanked the team for their valiant efforts and offered them a place back in the Cornerian Army. Fox declined, Star Fox preferring to doing things their own way, a sentiment Falco agreed with. As they celebrated their victory, thoughts of Katt lingered in Falco's mind.
Falco took a temporary leave of absence from the team so he could work things out with Katt, to which Fox gave his blessing. Falco sought out Katt and his old gang, wanting to reconcile with them. For a few months, they would go on their own adventures. At first, Falco loved the thrill of being a hot-rodder again but found it lacking compared to the excitement and sense of purpose being in Star Fox offered. Also, he noticed that another member of the team, Cool, also had eyes on Katt. Not wanting to be in the way, he said his farewells and left behind his old ways of being a hot-headed rebel for good.
Flying to Fortuna to rejoin Star Fox, he arrived just in time to aid Fox in facing against Andross, who had somehow survived the explosion of his palace on Venom. Andross had managed to obtain god-like power from the guardian spirits of Fortuna, but Falco helped Fox and the mystic Krystal to defeat him, killing the insane emperor. Though Andross was dead, his empire continued on though his nephew, Andrew Oikonny. After nearly a year, Oikonny's rebellion was already coming to an end when it was abruptly put to rest by the return of the bio-mechanically Aparoids.
As the Aparoids invaded the Lylat System, Slippy's father, Beltino Toad, discovered that they operated through a hive mind. A specialized bomb fired at their Queen could out wipe them all out. At this point, two new members were added to Star Fox: Fay Spaniel and Miyu Lynx. Dismissive, Falco thought they didn't need new members. They already added Krystal to the team and her psychic powers were helpful, but Falco couldn't see what these two could bring to the team. However, General Pepper insisted they joined and Fox agreed, Falco reluctantly going along with the idea. In order to stop the Aparoids, Star Fox was also forced to team up with Star Wolf, meaning that Falco had to work alongside Leon. Falco liked this even less. Unlike how Fox and Wolf would eventually develop a mutual respect, Falco and Leon continued to despise each other.
After the Aparoids were dealt with, the Lylat System was still in shambles after years of war and invasion. The newly elected President Spaniel, Fay's father, declared martial law and proclaimed himself Chancellor of United Lylat. All mercenary teams were to join the Army of United Lylat or be branded as traitors and outlaws. Dedicated to resisting all form of tyranny, Star Fox refused to submit and fled to Fox's homeworld of Papetoon. During their escape, Falco wanted Miyu and Fay to be kicked off the team, accusing of being spies for Chancellor Spaniel. Using her psychic powers, Krystal vouched for Miyu and Fay, which convinced Fox. Falco wasn't happy about it and would keep a close eye on the two. He was even less happy about having to work with Star Wolf yet again to order to fight back the forces of General Shears.
When the Cornerian Freedom Fighters were able to stop Chancellor Spaniel and General Shears, Falco swallowed his pride and apologized to Miyu and Fay, having learn not to judge someone based on their backgrounds. It was a lesson that would help him in the future when he met the young pilot, Dash Bowman. For all of his life, Dash and his family have been shunned by Cornerian society because Dash's maternal grandfather was none other than Andross. Though his fellow cadets in the Flight Academy mercilessly tormented him, Falco extended a hand of friendship, becoming a mentor to the young pilot.
Dash got the chance to prove himself a loyal Cornerian when five years after the fall of United Lylat did Andross return, but now there were two of him. Shears and the other United Lylat loyalists were able to make two Andross Clone and rebuild the Venomian Empire. In a blitzkrieg, the Andross clones were able to take control of much of the Lylat System and were planning on another invasion of Corneria. As the pilots rushed to join in the fight, Falco encouraged Dash to join in too and show everyone that he wasn't like his grandfather. In the battle to free Lylat once again, Falco also crossed paths with Katt once again.
In the battle at Andross's star base Astropolis, one of the Andross Clones was distracted by the presence of Dash. While the other clone lacked any sense of familial sentiment, this clone still possessed a grandfatherly love for Dash and refused to allow any harm to befall him. Frustrated, the more ruthless clone killed the other, this infighting allowing Fox to destroy Astropolis. While the remaining clone managed to escape though a space warp, Lylat had been saved once more.
In the aftermath, Falco met with Katt again. Falco was confused, believing that she and Cool were together at this point, but she denied it. She then confessed her love for Falco, catching him by surprise. She told him it didn't matter wherever he went, she wanted to be at his side. She always had. Falco berated himself for being so oblivious and finally came to understand his own feelings for her.
After the Lylat Wars, Star Fox would continue to operate for awhile, taking on missions to round up the remaining Andross loyalists and battle space pirates. When the team disbanded, Falco thought about forming his own team, Star Falco, with Katt and Dash. However, Dash now had a government job and was busy working alongside Krystal in restoring Venom to it's former glory as Cerinia. Instead, Falco decided to help train the next generation of Star Fox, led by Fox and Krystal's son, Marcus. Like Peppy before him, Falco now acted as the team's mentor.

Notes:
Falco's first design is what he wears in Star Fox Adventures. I imagined this is what he would have looked like as a hot-rodder. Since I compressed the timeline, Falco never actually quits Star Fox but does take time off to visit his old gang. Falco and Peppy seem to swap flight suit colors throughout the games. I know orange is the original, but I think red fits him better. For older Falco, I gave him his design from one of the endings from Star Fox Command.
The reason I added Dash to this entry is because it's a part of Falco's character development. At first, he's an abrasive hothead but learns to become a levelheaded mentor, filling Peppy's role for the third generation of Star Fox. Also, Dash is a member of Star Falco in one of Command's multiple endings. In Command, Andross is distracted by Dash. I also reference the Nintendo Power comics with the two Andross clones arguing. One clone was more sentimental, the other clone was more ruthless.
Katt has two fur colors: pink and brown. I went with pink because that's how she's mostly depicted.
