We were on the trail of Dr. Malic when we discovered his secret lair on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But we were surprised when we discovered that Dr. Malic was working with the Devonians. Dr. Darien, Dr. Saegusa, and I were taken prisoner, but thankfully, Dr. Borden evaded capture. While we were prisoners, we learned that Dr. Malic was under the control of Kaiser Ghidorah and that he was building an army on King Ghidorahs right here on this artificial island. He was also planning to create a new hybrid Kaiju for Kaiser Ghidorah to use to eliminate Godzilla.
And we had unknowingly brought him the final ingredient that he needs. Miki was probably the world's most talented psychic, gifted with both telepathic and telekinetic abilities. Infusing a Kaiju with her DNA would allow him to make the perfect vessel for Kaiser Ghidorah.
For once, I'm glad that Pete and Godzuki disobeyed their orders to stay on the Calico and followed us. Godzuki held off the Devonians as Pete and Brock made it back to the Calico to summon Godzilla with the Katsura. That's when Malic released a Dorat, an immature King Ghidorah. As Godzuki fought the Dorat, Brock was able to free us from our restraints, but we had to do something about the incubating Dorats. They could not be allowed to grow into King Ghidorahs. Gigantis himself needed help defeating just one of them, but Malic must have had at least a hundred of them on the island.
Godzuki had taken down the Dorat, but we were surrounded by Malic and the Devonians. But that's when Godzilla Junior arrived. Malic was disappointed as he had intended for Ghost Godzilla to kill him now that Monster Island was vulnerable. But he said it was of little consequence as he went to the controls and released a Kaiju he was keeping beneath the island.
It was another Ghidorah hybrid. From what I could see, and what I could observe from the control panel, it was made of some of the most dangerous Kaiju on Earth. Some I could recognize such as Rodan and Bagan, and some where Kaiju that we haven't seen yet. Pete said it reminded him of the legendary Gryphon. Chimera would be more accurate, but the name stuck.
The Gryphon was the size of a King Ghidorah just without the long neck, and it had the same electrical powers. According to Malic, this wasn't the perfect hybrid he was working on, but instead, this was a precaution just in case Ghost failed to kill Junior or if Junior made his way to his island early. From the start, it was clear that Junior was no match for the Gryphon as it was more than twice his size.
With Godzilla Junior being thrashed, Malic ordered the Devonians to kill us. Since he already got his sample of Miki's DNA, he had no further use for us. Just as the Gryphon was about to finish off Godzilla Junior, a white blast of atomic energy struck it, knocking it away from Junior. It was Ghost Godzilla. Sixty-five million years ago, he and his brother, Gigantis, had repelled Kaiser Ghidorah's invasion of Earth. Either he was already following Junior or he had sensed the presence of his old enemy.
An unlikely alliance was formed as both Ghost Godzilla and Godzilla Junior joined forces to fight the Gryphon. Their battle was doing heavy damage to the facility, and in the chaos, Godzuki was able to take out Malic's Devonian guards. Without his guards and with his Kaiju being overwhelmed by the Godzillas, Malic fled. We perused him and found him in a docking bay that housed the Black Shark, his mobile base of operations. We were too late as the submarine launched into the ocean. As it did, an alarm went off and the island began to tremble.
Over the intercom, we heard Malic's gloating voice saying that this was only a minor setback. He has released the Dorats, and he will kill both Godzillas at the same time as he had set the island to self-destruct. With no time to waste, we ran to the Calico. True to his word, the Dorats were set loose. Junior and Ghost had just finished off the Gryphon when they saw the miniature Ghidorahs taking flight. Refusing to tolerate any remaining trace of their nemesis, they began to blast them out of the air. Though they killed many of them, many of them had already flown away.
We were sailing out of the blast radius, but they were too preoccupied with eliminating the Dorats to get clear. We could only watch on as the facility exploded, obliterating the entire island and everything on it. We went to the monitors, hoping to find any sign of life from either Godzilla. We spotted them up on the radar, and we picked up some faint vital signs. It wasn't looking good as the signals were weakening and they sank to the bottom of the ocean.
Then we picked something else on the radar. Something big. And it was headed towards Ghost and Junior. Also, the water temperature was dropping all around us. We were in the middle of the Pacific, but we might well have been in the Arctic. And then, all three figures were gone.

Notes:
The Gryphon is based on the Griffon from Latitude Zero and the unused Kaiju, the Gryphon, from an earlier draft of the 1998 Godzilla. This was back when Stan Winston did the designs for both Godzilla and the Gryphon, and Godzilla actually would have looked like Godzilla if they had used Stan Winston's design.
I made the Gryphon yet another Ghidorah hybrid clone as the Gryphon bears some resemblance to Ghidorah and electrical powers. Also, Ghidorah was going to be in the 1998 film, but then they changed it to the Gryphon before dropping it out of the film altogether.
