artwork by SoraWithWings0.5 mechanical pencil, generic sketch pencils, and i added in a black prisma color pencil for the darkest parts. very mild photoshop edits to increase the contrast
this project has been discontinued, which is kinda sad cuz this pic has the most favs in our gallery D: but it seems to be mostly because alien fans like it, rather than because people are into the yugioh vs aliens crossover idea, especially a gay crossover with a pairing that isn't really that popular

sometimes i think the original version of the story where it was just mokuba all alone up there with these things is still the best version. we only rewrote it cuz it made more sense to write about our personal favorite characters if ur gonna spend so much time/effort on something but i still love this idea

From the thumbnail--I thought it looked like something completely different ahaaaaa. You're the only person I know who draws aliens and they're phenomenal. Love it!
Also this is me when playing Alien Isolation tbh. Poor Mokie, I feel you.

thanks very much! and yuuuusssh we really liked the atmosphere of that game. we did NOT like colonial marines where it's just aliens stupidly plodding toward u while u shoot them, omg. that game was offensively bad and stupid, i hate it. they dont even hide/ambush u/do anything clever, just run around letting u shoot them. but in isolation they made them terrifying and that's how we want to set up our comic is with that kind of 'omg these things are a threat' atmosphere. they were supposed to NEVER be a "oh well just shoot them, bam bam bam, im so badass lol" because they were SUPPOSED to BLEED. ACID. what happened to "it has a wonderful defense mechanism, you don't dare kill it" ?? ugh, i hate that game! just... ugh! offensively insulting and stupid. *dips it in acid barrel*

i think my fav parts of them is the head/face/teeth and the long snaky tail .u. but one of the main defining things that separates what they look like between movies is the legs. except for A2 the differences in the heads are too subtle for the audience unless ur srs alien fans so i think the legs will be the primary way to separate who is who. resurrection and avp are nearly twins except for the way they stand/move around.

i don't have a clue why so many people are interested in this picture, omg, so many comments from strangers, so many favs, not sure if cuz of the quality of the art or becuse aliens is far more popular than ygo and mokuba is pretty hard to see here, he could literally be anyone, clearly some comments don't recognize him at all, so maybe a lot of aliens fans dont realize it's a ygo fanart so they don't have that 'oh i don't know/like this anime...' reaction and just liked the aliens.
and all that is interesting and nice and all but actually of all this attention, ur the one i was waiting on that i wanted to see the pic x'D because ur my mokie fan and here's finally a picture featuring him. but i'm unhappy that he's so unrecognizable under there, so i'm working on a new pic of him where he's out in the open and u can really see him and it really feels like a 'mokuba picture' and not a 'this could be anybody' picture

If Ozymandias is meant to be the dumb one, then why the hell does he look the most terrifying?
Is that on purpose? I know they're supposed to be terrifying, but Ozy is killing the department.

actually, would YOU mind telling ME why you think that one is scarier?
i think the ones in resurrection look very elegant and graceful, and as u made the joke about the perfume ads ( xDDDD ) maybe u agree hahahaha. so maybe just the design of covenant, with the grasshopper legs from a3 and the old transparent head from the original movie, is scarier than the jurassic park-inspired raptor design resurrection used. i think resurrection looks more like a real animal, and covenant looks more like a walking corpse. the latter tends to be scarier, the unnatural is always scarier than the natural world.
or, is it the poses that I drew them in? since ozy from covenent is the closest to finding mokuba it makes him feel like more of a threat. also he seems to be looking at the viewer, making u feel like ur in danger too and need to find ur own hiding place.
so if u could give me YOUR opinion on which one looks the most threatening and why, because of the design/appearance or because of the poses, that would be helpful
and yeh ozy is stupid, rox wrote some funny jokes for the comic, but bottom line is the comic is still horror genre and he will still straight up kill u. the idea for the comic is "haha that's hilarious. but i still don't want them to notice me. i'll laugh quietly from a safe place. far away from them." xD

Well... I'm not the most articulate human, but I'll give it a try.
When I first saw it, the face freaked me out the most. The body is fine 'cause it looks like a grasshopper. Distance is okay 'cause he's expected to kinda-sorta find Mokuba. I think it's because the forehead... (I'm not sure if that long part behind their face is a forehead, but I'll call it that). Anywho, I was watching a documentary on how people in Africa used to tie a cloth around their newborns to make their foreheads stretch. (Apparently as a sign of royalty) The skulls are scary AF!

Because it was exaggerated, it looked wierd and scary. The smile just elevated that (I don't mind the teeth, tho). The shading on the yes made the face look like the skulls even more.

no no, that is good!
the original xeno had a transparent em... some people call it a carapace, but the head was partially transparent and there was a human skull inside. but the original movie is so dark that u cannot see this at all whatsoever, all that artistry on the skull and u cannot see it at all on-screen. such a shame D: in Alien 3 they brought the transparent head back, and have a brief shot where someone throws a flare at it and there's a brief glow of the inside of the head. but it still doesn't show the eyes ockets at the front on-screen. then i noticed in covenant, for all its faults they brought back the transparent head and have scenes where u can actually for the first time see the eye sockets inside. but it look to me like they are enlarged a lot, like some concept art giger did of xenos if they had eyes. it doesnt' really look so much like a human skull to me anymore but at least they did implement that
i personally like the see-thru head and the skull showing. that is probably the only part of the covenant alien that i like is bringing that back. i think it's very freaky, i like how u don't always necesarly see it and the light has to be a certain way.
so yes quite helpful that u think the vacant eye sockets showing through the head is the creepy part
and also, they do make expressions with their mouths and sometimes the look like they are grinning. A3 is the most expressive, i think. i don't think it's on purpose and in resurrection they really made the mouth so that, like, well as u can see in the drawing the corners come down really low, like they were deliberately trying to not make it look like it's smiling, like maybe they saw some of the funny faces a3 made. they'll make facial expressions in the comic on purpose but these drawings here are so i can practice the original canon design before anthropomorphizing it. so when ozy there turned out looking like he was grinning, i left it alone, as a way to test out how natural it looks for them to make expressions like that, and also how easy it is for them to look like they're grinning when you don't want them to. i think it fits the shape of the head very naturally to add in that psycho grin. so his grin wasn't done on purpose, but was left as-is on purpose, and i'm glad u thought the smile made him creepy instead of goofy. >u>. i have mental plans of them bein all scary with this evil grin on their face, but wasn't sure people would find the grin creepy or just silly.

Love the picture! It shows what is actually happening if you ran into a situation like this, but is this a crossover between Alien and Jurassic Park, where the Alien Queen, and the Indominus Rex have sex and take over the planet but are ultimately destroyed by a race of an anime army from the year 2029? (Actually that sounds more like Terminator, with that last part, but you get what I'm saying)

it is not a crossover with jurassica park, but i think alien resurrection was heavily inspired by it. the design looks very dinosaur-like with the hind legs and reptile tail, all the scenes showing how intelligent they are just like the intelligence raptors, and of course "humans clone dangerous exotic creatures, raise them and keep them in cages and try to tame them but the animals get out and kill everyone." i like the concept of resurrection but it is very much ripping off JP to be honest lol .u. but i liked JP too, so.... well, yeah, "JP but with xenomorphs" is basically the movie so maybe that's why i liked it as a kid x'D
the comic that this art goes with is actually a crossover between the Alien series and Yugioh

this pic was much inspired by that game l3;;;; particularly that part where the character is hiding by the desk and the tail nearly falls right on you/her... that xeno won't be in the comic, just the movie xenos, but i really liked the general atmosphere of the game and i want the comic to feel that way
