Description I don't know if I like drawing or simply like testing different drawing programs...

I was playing with GIMP, MyPaint and Artweaver these days and I really enjoyed using Artweaver. It's like a mini Painter but doesn't have THAT many brushes (which is great!). It's cleaner even than SAI so I can really concentrate on my work.

Free version is enough but does some weird things. I would recommend the Plus version, cost about 40 Euro.

That's really cool! I've never heard or tried Artweaver before, and I love Painter so much but with simpler version of it ?! Awesome !! ^^ I will try it now and I'm sure I will love it

Great thing is you can make your own painterly brush in Artweaver like in Photoshop. But it has many minor bugs speacially with the blending tools. If you paint more than smear, I would recommend artweaver. It has potential but is not well funded.

Thank you for your suggestion ! I've tried it and I do agree, it's really good comparing with Painter 12, because it's simpler so it runs much smoother.
I noticed as well for the blending tools but the paint tools themselves work perfectly! The only problem I'm facing now is that I couldn't make the stylus pen work correctly for eyedropper tool (Intuos 5) I'm not sure I have to set anything but I tried everyway I couldn't figure out yet. However, overall it's such a great program, I wish it keeps improving and if I can find solution for shortcut I will buy it instantly.
Again, thank you so much for introducing me to Artweaver! I saw you use Sai, Illust studio and ArtRage too. I like them all but I mostly in love with Painter, though it's quite slow sometimes and I wish it works as fast as Photoshop or Sai. By the way, which is your most favorite program currently?

My favorite has always been Art Rage. Sometimes I got sidetracked and tried to experience other painting apps, but I still think AR is unique in the way of building up textures and brushworks. I am a big fan of anime and manga but when it comes to myself I decide to do something different. Go onto my blog gbwhisper.wordpress.com for my recent paintings.

As for the shortcut problem if your are using a PC you might need to disable some of the multitouch options. Also as I said the free version is much buggy than the full version. Or you can maybe post problems on their blog and hopefully they can give you a beta tester upgrade.

I see, thank you so much! I do agree I have AR4 too and I think it gives the traditional painting feeling more than any other programs.

I have seen your work style and it's pretty cool!

I've tried and I will send the bugs problem to them.  I hope it works ^^

Have a great day!

what about artweaver... how would you compare them? because I'm wondering what program to download, and my friend recommended me between mypaint and artweaver... and she really liked mypaint.

I like Artweaver because I love its colour blending system which is similar to painter. Mypaint is maybe more close to Photoshop. You can try both free versions to start.

I'm glad to see more people start to use Artweaver these days

Nice trial. Also fair comments.

I had some troubles to run MyPaint & ArtRage in the past, so I stuck with Artweaver.
Keep it going!

Thank you for your comment!

Yeah Artweaver is cool, but with many many minor bugs... Really like its simplicity. I have sent messages to Boris see if he can fix those problems soon..

The main reason I gave up using my mac is because of that. Also win7 is amazing I have to say.
