Description

Garuga was a beast type Haniwa Phantom who was the monster of the week on Ep.11 of the Kotetsu Jeeg anime: Garuga was a quadruped with a reptilian/feline design, with spikes, a lizard tail ending in a spikes at the end, with a bird like head with long fangs protruding from its upper jaw, with long claws in its paws. Color wise it was Largely Pink and light Yellow, with Red and Black. Like many Phantoms, it had a horn skull located on its chest. It could walk underwater and burrow its way underground (as with most of the Phantoms). It spew Red fire from its mouth, and Green Fire from its tail. It could also lounge its tail to grapple its enemies like a snake.

Now concern that Himika knows the location of the Build Base, the staff lies on alert for any attack when they detect Magnetic Activity in one of the areas. Michi takes off on the Big Shooter to investigate, only to be seen by a Haniwa Warrior hiding under the mud at bottom of the lake. After finding no signs of activity, she returns to Base and heads to find Hiroshi, who is fishing near the lake with the kids, Don and Pancho. Michi finds concerning Hiroshi dismissals to concerns that Jamatai now know of the Base's location, the later pointing out he has been sent to investigate false reports for many nights and that by de facto he is not part of the Build Base team, and Michi leaves furious at his comments.

At that moment, the kids come running to inform of trouble with Don and Pancho, whose boat was trap in a whirlpool vortex. Hiroshi jump to help them, but the three are pull under by a wave. Hiroshi sees a large object underwater (the Haniwa Phantom) and is smack by the tail, falling to the bottom unconscious. The Beast burrows its way into the Runway way for the Big Shooter and the base counter attacks with an Electromagnetic Barrier, but Garuga digs its way under the defenses to avoid them, finally breaking into the underground Hangar of the Big Shooter itself, and proceeds its way towards the main computer room, dealing with the Bases' defenses along the way allowing Michi to take the opportunity to board the Shooter and attack the Phantom, blasting its head off, forcing it to retreat. Meanwhile Hiroshi comes out of the lake - to the surprise to the others after been in the water for an hour- and runs back to the base to learn what had happened explaining he was knocked out by the Monster. Michi chastises Hiroshi for his complacency from before when the base needed him the most. A remorseful Hiroshi leaves, as the base enters into a high state of alert as the Phantom still linger by.

While ridding on his bike, Hiroshi realizes more about his own oddness, his body surviving what would had been deadly crashes and drowning. At that moment MechaDon shows up telling him of the Phantom, but before he could do anything, he is ambushed by squadron of Jamatai Warriors under General Ikima's command, but Hiroshi holds them off, when Michi shows up on the Big Shooter. Hiroshi transforms and assembles Mach Drill Jeeg and burrows its way underground to go after the phantom, briefly encountering the MechaDon before finding Garuga. The two giants fights, causing shaking under the base: in the battle, Jeeg Mach Drill's are melted by the Green fire, the Mecha blasts the Garuga's spikes with Jeeg Beam in return. Garuga launches its tail, wrappling over Jeeg and blasting it with Green flames. Jeeg releases a power build that destroys the tail.

The magnitude of the explosion rips through the ground next to the base itself. The others come out to see, when Hiroshi comes from the hole, causing relief for Michi and the Professor, but confusion for the others present. In the end, Hiroshi is left more wondering about the true nature of his body, certain it does not come from his gloves.
