Beautiful! I love the sense of action... and your color scemes are awesome! Love the graininess, too, it adds something to the picture...

this looks so badass maybe it's just the empty, smokey background but it looks like she's using those as weapons

Yes indeed, glowsticks are great things.

You have here the best anthro I've ever seen, not even kidding, I can't decide on which one to fav!!

I feel like I should put it in another separate folder, because I don't want to jam it in with all the other stuff...

This is why I love glowsticks, because they leave wonderful little trails on your vision, with just something of a little twirl.

That's the exact same reason why I love glowsticks as well. They make for some incredible visual eyecandy.

And thanks!

OMG I had to favorite this cuz you're the first person I've seen that's drawn somebody spinning poi right! The strings... are supposed to be tight! Then it gives it the helicopter effect! And the trails actually match where the glowsticks are going! BEAUTIFUL!!!

GearOtter In reply to KurisuchinK [2008-10-01 18:10:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so very much!

This was actually one of the reasons why I bothered to finish the image; I wanted to see how hard it would be to make the glow trails look as realistic as possible.

I'm so glad I got it right!

:: faves and collects ::

Ya know... my poi collection is made up of mostly your art... I've found that no one else has really good poi art that's not a real picture (haven't gotten around to looking for real pics yet). In other words, I love your poi art

Wait... you already know that... :: stfu's :: XD

Nothing's different, everything's changed. It's certainly more striking than the predecessor, given the improved contrast between Link and the scene in this one.

I remember our talking once of the lineart's presence in your finished works, and factors affecting it's final presence to be in greater or lesser strengths. Comparing the related pictures, I still prefer the old method that provided a softer, more polished look. However, I cannot condemn the more gritty, sharp look this and your other more recent works have adopted. Again, it helps to bring your characters more attention. I think it's one of the main aspects of this picture's success, if only in comparison to your former attempt.

By the wide frame alone, I am reminded of your troubles with the old picture - there seemed no truly adequate amount of space surrounding Link, widening created a void, and shortening suffocated the subject. I could not imagine what caused it, and though I am not any more qualified to postulate the forces of composition at work here now than ever before, watch me direct a bold finger at that fog. Link's motion seems to have pushed it away - not presently and actively, as it might have been to desperately capture movement within a moment. But it resides passively, encompassing the action. I believe the fog is instrumental for this picture's triumph in design, in simultaneously allowing for breathing room in the picture, adequately filling that space, and also drawing attention to Link by nature of it's slope towards her.

I still cannot completely discern why I appreciate this picture's background, and why it renders the previous picture's background almost shameful in retrospect. I can only surmise as far as what I mentioned about contrast before, including the less pronounced blending of that atmospheric color and Link. It may simply be that I like this background's color more. It could as well be an effect of the stronger gradient, or possibly only the exclusion of the clouds that release the picture from trying to establish itself as a real place where fog exists. Maybe that's it. Your last picture was a background and a motion. This picture is a setting and an emotion.

It's just another way of saying I get more out this picture than the last.

I like what you did with the newer version, but I am still a far of the old one - I think it's the angle.

Lovely work, per usual

I will have to admit, the old image has a much more dynamic/interesting angle.

Thanks muchly!
