The cat's paws sank through the dank earth as he slogged through pine forest. "What cat in their right mind would choose to live in a swamp?" He mumbled to himself. He tasted the air, scenting nothing but pine sap and rain. And mud. No sign of any wild cats yet. Don't they have a scent-marked border around here? He could have sworn he'd heard that from the stories and rumors.

More rain began to drip down from gaps in the branches overhead onto the small cat's thick, splotched gray pelt. Mud clogged the fur around his legs and fallen pine needles clung to his pads and jabbed between his toes. He was about ready to give up and turn back, when suddenly a caterwaul broke through the patter of rain.

The young cat stopped in his tracks, feeling his hackles raise as adrenaline flooded through him. His ears pricked at the sound of scattering pine needles and paw steps sloshing through puddles, and he gasped once he saw the foggy silhouettes of a band of several cats racing towards him. Soon their lean, well-muscled frames towered over him, their backs arched and their pelts bristling.

I'm already super into this warriors group! This is the first part of an RP with Ao-No-Lupus where Muddypaw joins DuskClan. The next part will be out as soon as I finish the illustration.
