You have to consider that drawing a manga styled character requires some stylization... we are used to big heads always we read manga. The proportion that can be natural in a photo don't always work when translated inch by inch to a comic styled drawing.

but my style is NOT manga
I am trying to reach a more realistic style, perhaps my style can be next to that American, and in them the proportions are they are wrong as in the manga, I don't want to stylize.
I know my style, I know what I want, you cannot tell me you thing I must do if don't know what I want to reach.

OK girl! Your style is yours (still that in this concrete picture it reminds me a lot of certain manga styles). I don't try to say you what to do, I only express my opinion. Anyway, keep it up, I'm sure you'll reach some interesting results.
