You know, sometimes I see art on deviantart and it's a bit sad to think that it will be gone and forgotten a million years from now. Even if the entirety of the dA servers are preserved for such a long time, by then humanity will have moved on and its culture will be completely unrecognizable- after all, we still don't really know every detail and purpose of really old ruins like Stonehenge and Catal Huyuk- and it's not likely that they'll take care to preserve any of this or try to make it popular again, for the same reason that only a select handful of people know a lot about the Burusho (Pakistani ethnic minority) or the Trumai (an Amazonian tribe).
We're going to be lost among the sands of time- us, and the sum total of all our experiences and art and science and love and hatred and politics and history.

Huh, wow, that's kind of profound.....but you know, I think it's better to live in the present than think that far into the future. It's a shame we can't live to see how much the world will change in another million years (if the Earth survives that long), but we're experiencing life right here right now, so we might as well make the most of it while we can.
