ES: Doedicurus es un género extinto de mamíferos cingulados de la familia Glyptodontidae que vivieron durante el Pleistoceno hasta el final de la Edad de Hielo, hace unos 11.000 años. Los restos fósiles de Doedicurus clavicaudatus aparecen conservados en Sudamérica, especialmente en la Formación Ensenada, Argentina. Dada la tardía fecha de su extinción, fueron probablemente cazados por los primeros pobladores de América del Sur. Este animal, que está relacionado con los armadillos actulaes, estaba cubierto por un caparazón y tenía un gran mazo al final de la cola para defenderse de los depredadores, como el tigre dientes de sable (Smilodon). Se cree que el mazo con espinas los tenían los machos para la competencia por el territorio o el apareamiento. Tal mazo también se encontraba en el Ankylosaurus, un dinosaurio tireóforo del Cretácico. Medía unos 1,5 metros de altura y su longitud era de 3,6 metros. The fossil remains of Doedicurus clavicaudatus appear preserved in South America, especially in the Ensenada Formation, Argentina. Given the late date of their extinction, they were probably hunted by the first settlers of South America. This animal, which is related to the actulae armadillos, was covered by a shell and had a large club at the end of its tail to defend itself against predators, such as the saber-toothed tiger (Smilodon). It is believed that the spiked club was worn by males for competition over territory or mating. Such a club was also found in Ankylosaurus, a thyreophoran dinosaur from the Cretaceous. It was about 1.5 meters high and its length was 3.6 meters. It was herbivorous and lived in forests and grasslands. It is also believed that they had very poor vision.
