WATCH YouTube VIDEO of how I painted this: : youtu.be/h6ngRtx7mkEA purple iris flower from Bodnant Gardens in North Wales. I loved the curling shape of the petals, closing up like curled fingers. Plus it had those purple Zebra stripes on the inside of the petals that looked fun to paint. I used tissue paper to 'blot' the green paint in the background to give it a softer appearance.
Created using Aquamarker watercolour markers on a type of watercolour paper I was not used to, the strange surface sizing that made the paints dry quickly and the markers 'stain' the paper a bit (see top corners) so I don't think i'll be using it again - back to the Bockingford 190gsm!

It was a rough 300gsm watercolour paper from a British stationery store, a Well-known High-street Store... It worked okay with classic watercolours but not so good with the markers. Having said that, it was not the worst watercolour paper I've used with them either!

Okay. I wanted to know in case it was Strathmore, which is what I generally buy, or Canson, which someone warned me against (well, the marker paper, anyway).
Btw, I've noticed certain colors don't seem to 'melt' as well as others (have I said this before?) Do you notice that too? If so, how do you compensate, other than simply not drawing directly on the paper?

Oh nice! Really precise work, no need to think twice which flower it is That colour combination of purple and orange, those stripes! I love Irises! 
It's kinda funny: every time the deviation title has 'Aquamarkers' in it there's no doubt who made it

Haha! I think, judging by my views on YouTube it's because hardly anyone else is using them

I don't think it really matters, how many people are using them as long as you personally like working with them (BTW checked on Google: with 'aquamarkers' there came a few stamp colourings, one or two intermediate marker works and then there were your paintings. They really stand out!
