Description I recently acquired some Sculpey(TM) to make some buttons and a clasp for my Halloween costume. Once I made those I remembered Oborochann's charms [link] and I thought they were so cute. So I gave a try at making some.

I wish my camera did better at focusing on the charms. >.< It doesn't make them look as good as they do in real life. The little geisha took the longest to paint because she had seven different colors and I had to paint the obi on. (I forgot to make one out of Sculpey. >.< ) I know the shrimp isn't the same color as it should be, but I think it's cute pink. ^^

Sculpey clay, acrylics, and Sculpey Glaze.

Very well done! The geisha and rice cake are especially nice. How big are they, exactly? They must have been a pain to paint.

All of my charms are about 1/2" tall. And that geisha was a pain, but worth it.

Wow, only half an inch?! That's TINY. I expected at least an inch, if not more. *is more impressed*

Well, they got to work on a cell phone or potentially as jewelery. So they've got to be pretty small.

its still easy to tell what they are and that they have good detail. i just figured out how to set my camera too so my charms look a little better. i also used oborochann's tutorials for some of my base ideas too

Thank you for your comment.

Yeah, I did set my camera at the option I needed but it didn't want to work for me. What can you do?

oh i know how that is too >.< my camera doesn't like me much either. it works when it wants to and doesn't when....well when does it work really? but i really did enjoy the unique quality of your charms.

i understand what you mean. but to a degree i think it's stress relieving for me at least i find it stress relieving because i like doing it and i see results fairly fast. i think the best way is to plan somethings out before i start. but i also make it up as i go too. just do what you can but i'd love to see more of your work.

I find it stress relieving too. It's just hard to transport all the stuff around to like my aunt's place or something like that. It's just easier to lug the crochet stuff around. I'll let you know when I start work on some new stuff. Maybe I'll make some for Valentine's and St. Patrick's.

oh perfect idea for charms! and yea i know what you mean. my embroidery stuff is sooo much easier to carry and keep in order compaired to working on my charms. i'll only do those at home where i can really work.

Exactly. Now all I have to do is get a hold of some wire to get started. xP

you got paperclips lying around? they work wonders with holding body parts together. thats how i keep my heartless antenna on. well now i use the excess of my eye pin heads but before i used paperclips.

they work wonders. all my small thin pieces i add all have wire re-enforcement added. they'd all break wayyy to easy otherwise and be worthless as charms. i have a valentines day set coming out on valentines day and one of them is pretty much all wire inside.

I just found some eyelets that I have. They work better than wire. xP

How do you make your charms all smoooooth?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Geisha-Neko In reply to PhoneNoodle [2007-10-19 22:30:30 +0000 UTC]

It's the Sculpey Glaze. I bought the glossy one so they would look smooth and shiny. It's really easy to use.
