Description

   Scaldine live in the warm shallows around the coast, ducking between rocks and coral to ambush unsuspecting fish. They use their fiery glowing fins as a threat display to larger predators. Scaldine are known for the use of boiling water and searing steam as a weapon both in hunting prey and fending off attackers.

   Pyreel hunt in the deeper waters off the cost, preferring to live in the walls of cliffs and caverns where they lie in wait for prey to wander by. When food is sighted they unleash a jet of boiling hot water that stuns and kills their target quickly. Their jaws are lined with needle like teeth, capable of piercing even the hard shells of turtles and aquatic arthropods. They send their teeth frequently, a praised find for spear fishers who use them as fresh points for their tools.

   Thermoray are well known for lurking in deep waters and attacking fishing vessels as they pull in their catch. They surround their targets in a Steamy fog before bursting out of the water to attack the nets full of caught fish, using their razor sharp teeth to cut the line before dragging it away. In ancient times it is said Thermoray grew to far more frightening size and would take great pleasure in setting the water itself a blaze. They were feared by sailors who would often bring them great creatures a sacrifice of livestock or fish to appease them.
