but most test strips are known for being inaccurate ;o; you should get a liquid test kit which is a lil pricier but a lot more accurate than test strips. from what i've heard they lose accuracy over time after its opened and exposed to air, moisture, stuff on your hands, etc
ntm liquid kits last for a super long time and unless you're doin tests every other day or every week, you should never run out

yeaH i was planning on getting the whole test kit eventually but im a lil low on funds until i get a job + i had to get some other stuff like a siphon/etc ans i figured it was good to at least have something ;__; i heard the strips were more accurate than that little meter that you keep in the tank so i got them for now

ooo yeah I see! the liquid kits are kinda pricey and so is the siphon : ( it took me a few years before I got my kit. before that I was young and kind of ignorant and was just droppin goldfish in uncycled 10 gallon tanks like an idiot
I didn't even know liquid kits existed until I joined a fish group on facebook. I got my first back in 2016 for $40 and I only really use it to test for nitrates cause I don't like spending weeks cycling tanks I just use old filter media cause im impatient
test strips are better than nothing tbh. They can let you know if there's any ammonia / nitrite / etc in the water, its just not good at determining how much there is exactly. which isn't a big deal if your tank is already cycled. But if you're trying to cycle a tank the test strips may give you false readings and will give u a hard time.
But I think anything is better than the meter honestly
