Reminds me of Nocnica and Dziennica (names respectively, from Noc like night and Dzień like day) spirits from Slavic folk demonology . First ones grow old and bleak as the daylight comes, the other turn old and darken as the night arrives, turning white and young again with the dawn.

Fantastic concept ... you chose colors diametrically opposed to each other, yet still used touches of yellow in "night spirit" and purple in "spirit of the day". Masterful work.
