For 100 years he roamed around terrorizing innocent pokemon children babies it didn’t matter, his cruelty eventually caught the eye of arceus himself, when confronted thanatos challenged arceus. Thanatos was able to severely wound the powerful pokemon and might have succeeded in defeating him if it weren’t for Bouvardia a rogue celebi who restrained the dark pokemon. Arceus then proceeded to banish thanatos to the underworld imprisoning him for all time using the powers of palkia and dialga to do so, the conditions of his curse is that he cannot return to the world of the living. No exceptions.
