Description The water is deep and dark, something that fascinate the humans and scares them at the same time. It’s the one place they can’t reach, at least not yet.
They can only let him explore it for them; can only let him bring up lost treasures to the surface. He smiles at that, but only when he is in the water.

Water.

It has a beautiful melody to it, and as he swims through the dark depths he feels it; he can’t hear like the humans, but his ears are designed to pick up shifts in the air and vibrations in the water. So instead of hearing nothing, he can feel soft touches from the water, telling him where everything is and telling him where to go.

He often imagines that this is what music sounds like.

A steady beat in your ears, soft or sharp, weak or strong. Something that reaches all the way into your heart, making it dance like a snowflake in a winter storm.

He loves to swim.

The dragon opens his eyes again, absently wondering when he closed them, as he twitches his ears to get a better hold on his surroundings. But before any answering vibration reaches him, he sees something he has never seen before.

A ship.

It’s big and old, and as he lets his paws touch it he discovers that it’s made of rusty metal.
This must be one of the steel monsters the humans used before… before.
Curious, the dragon searches for an opening that he can enter through; but he is careful as he does, not wanting to brush of the sea stars that cling to the metal corpse or get pinched by one of the crabs. Those tiny creatures seem to have a likening for his tail.

He finds a door.

For once, he is grateful for being stuck in his changing form; if this had been his big form, then his paws would have been too clumsy, too animalistic. But since it’s not, his paws easily turn the handle and with shaky vibrations the door opens. He smiles to himself, pleased, before swimming through the opening.
The hallway he finds himself in is filled with tiny and colorful fishes, in bright blue and purple, shining orange and white, some are even a screaming green that clashes with pink.
The dragon looks at them for a moment with childlike wonder, before his curiosity kicks in again, and the urge to see more returns. He moves through the hallway, making the fishes scatter like spilled paint, before entering a big room. This room has old furniture in it, ruined by years of neglect and the surrounding water.
He touches the furniture and it crumbles underneath his paw, but it takes only a second before his attention is snatched away again; there is something shiny in the corner of the room.
He chirps in delight at what he sees; it’s a photograph, clad in a golden frame. He touches the metal gently, violet eyes huge as he looks at the picture inside.
A girl with honey hair is smiling at him, clad in expensive clothes. It wouldn’t surprise him if she was a princess, maybe an emperor’s daughter. She is beautiful, in that way humans sometimes can be.
He takes the small object and puts it into the bag his owners gave him.
Shiny things are good. They talk softly to him when he brings that.
And to him, a memory is worth a lot. For that is what a picture is, right?

A memory?

He wished he had nice memories.
The dragon sighs, an action that barely make any vibrations in the water.
Then he once again starts to explore.

He finds some jewelries hanging around skeletons' necks, and even some undamaged toys, the kind they used before with flashing lights and thin dolls.
Everything goes into the bag.
But before he turns to swim up again, he sees a beautiful seashell.

White and slightly purple at the edges, bigger than both his paws and with spikes sticking out of it.

His paws ache to take it, but he knows that his owners won't have any use of it.
But maybe they will be kind and give it to him?

The dragon tilts his head, a slow movement in the water.

He did find many things today, and if he describes the ship to them...
The dragon smiles hopefully to himself before taking the seashell, holding it delicately in his paws before swimming back up to the surface.

As he curls into himself in his bedding, still tasting the salt water on his tongue, he can't help but chirp softly in a barely felt, and therefore barely heard, laughter.
Pressed to his belly, a seashell with slightly purple spikes can be seen resting.

He is slowly but surely making nice memories, after all.

And it was a happy day today.

Thank you. :3

Yeah, Water-dragons, Donnie's kind, are known for being very curious. Fire-dragons, Raph's, are known for being fierce and violent. Weather-dragon, Mikey's, are known for being social. Leo's kind, winged dragons, are known for having big, bad-ass claws. XD

My imagination when it comes to names are very bad. <_<;

Great! This was a sweet story! I loved seeing things from dragon Don's point of view. I'm glad he was allowed to keep the seashell in the end. It was a good ending. Overall, I loved the beautiful images of underwater life you created.

Well, Donnie have to have Something. And I tried to make sure he still came off curious; maybe not a tech-guy, but he still love to explore, right? ^^
