The words just blurted out, like frozen glass pieces. Sharp, cutting his tongue.

He could almost taste the blood.

And Raph had stared at him.

Those golden eyes, wide, shocked, angry?

No, not angry.

Scared.

That was what they had been.

Donatello had only felt bitterness then: he had been right, after all, Raph had become interested in someone. Just like April had become interested in Casey.

He had yelled.

Told Raph that yes, he knew.

He knew everything and that if Raph wouldn't cut it out, he might tell Leo.
That he was putting the family in danger, more than he had ever done before.

Raphael had looked so scared.

And for once, just like he had for once yelled at a brother, Raph hadn't responded with anger like he should've, because Don knew he had been unfair.

Hadn't thrown even more things (what a mess his room had turned into) and hadn't punched him.

Instead, Raph ran away.

Hadn't even slammed the door shut, only leaving it open, and there had been no one to stop him. Splinter was out with Leo and Mikey, picking up things at April's, and Donnie's throat had been too tight to yell.

His lungs had felt as if they had been filled with icy water.

He buried his face in his hands, and didn't pay attention to the sick flowers touching his toes, half hidden by the dirt.

He had hurt Raph.

No matter how much his brother might've denied it, he knew he had.

Had scared and hurt and made him run away.

Because he had lied about those flowers, not willing to say that he had gotten them by himself, and suddenly Raph wasn't there.

He sniffled, for once not because of the cold.

And then he sank to the floor.

He wasn't the one that should be crying.

But he was, and he hated it.
