I'm amazed by your talent in putting these plushies together. Awesome work! Thanks for the llama that brought me here. You got one back from me.

Aww, it reminds me of a parrot plushie I had as a kid. For some reason bird plushies are especially photogenic. Just turn them slightly and you get a whole new expression. You did a really good job with this one. It takes a lot of patience to sew in all those color details, not to mention cutting them out and sorting them in the first place.
Bravo

They're seriously soooooo photogenic some things I've made look a LOT better in person but my bird plushies fit the frame so to speak!
Thank you so much! It was an absolute pain to do those wings if I'm honest, I think I spent about 5 or 6 hours patterning and cutting/sewing them together and then my friend pointed out the inside of their wings weren't the same colour and I jumped for joy with the time I'd save!

I get that. When I gave up drawing it was for writing. My drawing is passable and not nearly what I wish it could be, but that's okay because writing is what I truly love. Plushies is a newer interest for me, but as it turns out they can tell stories too

Awwwh I used to love writing but as you get older you aren't able to put in as much time as you want with these things and now when a day of plushing is done I just want to go on a game or watch youtube videos xD can't win!

Funny you should mention that, since the majority of my fan base is from fanfiction.net and a few of them follow me here on DA. I used to ghostwrite and even wrote my own novel, but there’s more money in helping other people with their books so I use fanfiction.net to let loose my creativity without worrying about the business end of it. It’s weird trying to turn a passion into a job, though you likely know all about that since you sell plushies as well as make them

A lottttttt of people wrote fanfiction back in the day xD they just don't like to admit it
It can be quite tough too because the moment you tell yourself it's a job you can lose interest and motivation, I sort of have no choice but to make this a full time thing because I suffer from severe anxiety and I cannot stand working for someone else, luckily my boyfriend is super supportive and said to go for it!

Yeah, I’m not the most...employable type either, mostly due to anxiety and minor physical limitations. I recently got an offer for a job that pays better than what I do now, so I did what any normal person would do and went into an existential depression for a couple days. I’ve since figured out a way to not make the new job seem overwhelming, and hopefully my new boss is okay with the idea. He’s a pretty reasonable guy usually so fingers crossed
Also, what franchises did you write fan fiction for?

I’ll just have to see how the interview process goes. I haven’t even asked about money yet, since offering more money can’t actually make me try harder. I give the same attention to detail whether it’s working for peanuts or a paypal balance. Thanks for your words of encouragement though. Sometimes when someone else says something isn’t that stressful it makes it actually feel less stressful 😊
My fanfictions are mostly but not exclusively in Transformers. I’ll write about any subject or idea that pops into my head, from the horrors of war to family relationships to filling a plot hole. I’m not embarrassed though, because writing fanfiction keeps my writing sharp and helps me improve. Besides, I’ve written original stories no one cared about even though I made a little money, but with a fanfiction I can use familiar characters to explore an emotionally deep idea and touch the lives of a hundred teenagers and young adults that read it. Admittedly though, I am embarrassed by the days when I liked Pokémon. I was a preteen and was WAY too into it

That’s good advice. And true. I work harder if I care about a project whether I’m getting paid or not (usually not). I can work just for money, but I’m usually miserable when I do. Some people can be motivated by money and that’s fine, but that’s just not me. Also, it sounds like your 6 jobs were a nightmare
I love world building! It’s probably my second favorite part about writing, number 1 being developing character personalities and psychology. My novel wasn’t perfect, but one thing I’m still happy with was how detailed the world building was. I’m working on my second novel, but it’s so hard to find time with other jobs, projects, and just life getting in the way

It’s nice to see someone who knows to put their mental health first. I think you made the right decision. Besides, you’re making more than money, you’re making art and you’re making something that can help other people de-stress from their lives. I’m currently working on this one project for a client, and while my client is very nice and cooperative the project itself has been a huge slog to get through. Once I get paid for that one I’m definitely buying something special so I can say I got something out of it. Heck, given my mood lately I’ll probably end up buying a new cast member for my plush comics 😝
I love geography to be honest. Of course for a book world building doesn’t always mean actual maps and planets. It just means setting the scene and environment that the characters live in. It can be as small as an apartment building where the story takes place, or as big as a galaxy in the middle of an epic quest for peace. As long as you and the reader can keep everything straight that’s all that matters 😋

I understand the pressure to want to provide for your family. I feel that way sometimes too, but I can’t let that desire blind me to what I would risk by neglecting my health. In my case though instead of a boyfriend helping me it’s my mom. We work well together but sometimes I wish I could do more.
More raptor plushies? Yay! Those are so cute! To be fair though, I’m a sucker for dinosaurs anyway. Always have been. I’ve been working on a stegosaurus plush for a while now that’s supposed to look like the Transformer Snarl, but it’s been only half finished for forever! I sewed it with a Godzilla voice box inside so it can roar, but considering I don’t make videos I don’t know what the point of that was
Yeah, like you can count on school to teach geography. LOL! I learned it as a kid by playing Encarta Virtual Globe. It was a fun CD ROM game from 1998, or at least that’s when my brother gave it to me (lord, I sound so old). I did actually make a map for a novel I was in the process of writing years ago, but then I discarded the project and the map was never used. Probably for the best since my hand writing is nearly illegible.
I agree that video games can oftentimes have a lot of detailed maps and world building. I tried to learn video game coding a few years ago, but the farthest I got was building one maze level with a pink blob for a protagonist that you could walk around the maze. Not exactly a game, and I lost interest after a few months of not being able to work with it

Aww, tiny dinosaurs! Now I want one! Maybe when I get some extra money I can order from you again. After all, the camera loves Megatron
I don’t even know what to ask, but if you wanna talk about plush making I’m always up for learning new things. It’s a relaxing hobby, though I’ll admit I’m not necessarily good at it yet. Huffer turned out okay, and I’ve done a few tiny plushies I haven’t posted online yet, but poor Snarl so far looks like a fish
I love history too, though I go through phases as to which time periods and countries I want to learn about. Last week I was into old Hollywood, a few weeks before that I was really into the history of the British monarchy, and before that it was the indigenous peoples that were wiped out by Christopher Columbus. When I was a kid I was more into the bad boy parts of history. Gangsters, Vikings, pirates, etc. One thing that helped my love of history is that I went from public school to being homeschooled, and my mom is really into history. Unfortunately I never picked up her love of math

Truth be told I prefer to make plushies as small as possible. I've made three plushies from a line I'm going to call Recycloids (because they're made from repurposed fabric), and each one is only about an inch tall. I forget what that comes out to be in centimeters, but they're about the size of a grape. Cute little guys so far. One is a kitty, one is a zombie fighter thing, and one is a frog. I've made five, but I gave two away. I'll post them online once I've made a few more since I intend to sell them on Etsy. Any advice on that end would be helpful
You know how to use an embroidery machine? Man, you are talented! I've always admired good embroidery work on a plush. My embroidery skills are rudimentary at best, but I can at least make eyes, so that's something
Oh don't worry, once Snarl is done he's joining my cast, so you'll get to see him on DA with the others
Indeed they did. Some of the sugar treats they came up with in the Tudor era would make even today's consumer look at them and go "Yeah, you're overdoing it". LOL! XD

Eventually I will showcase them, but I don’t know the perfect way to do it yet. I might even write a booklet on how to care for a Recycloid. Kind of a humorous instruction booklet in the same manner as the Pet Rock book 😝
I’m not really sure how selling with Etsy would work out for me, since I’m a US seller. Still torn between trying Etsy or going with eBay
Yep, electric guitar was another one for me. I bought one along with an amp when I was 23. I was so sure I was going to learn it, and since my dad plays guitar he was so excited for me to learn. As it turns out though, a guitar works on different principles from a piano or woodwind, and my wimpy fingers didn’t work well with the strings. I ended up selling the guitar at a consignment shop for less than I paid for it

That’s something to think about. Maybe listing on both is the best option, as long as I keep an eye on the listings. Thanks 😊
Yep. Calloused hands play the guitar better. That wasn’t my first dropped hobby and it won’t be my last. My family has musical talent on both sides, yet for some reason learning to play an instrument alludes me. Eh, crafting and writing are both more fun anyway 😋
