Description That's more like it.

Here's a big painting I've been working on on and off for the past eight months or so. I think I might come back to it soon and do a bit more refining. But it's finished... for a certain value of finished anyway. Spur of the moment. Just got a new tablet today and needed to give 'er a test run. I was pleased.

Crit welcome on everything except for his wonky anatomy, which I pretty much said "fuck it" too. Fun piece - focus on color, rendering detail quality, shapes, and composition.
I wanted him to look really flow-y, since he's a shape-shifter.

The tail was a real bitch, and one of the reason's I'm sort of submitting it prematurely. Sick of his damned tail.

So here is Trent, for the third time. Looking radically different.

About the CharacterTrent is ~SlushpuppieT 's character from my last D&D campaign which ran from January 2008 to December 2010.

The basis of the game was just me trying to think of a way to make a long-running game that didn't spontaneously end (as most of our games tended to do). My solution was to make a game with characters my players and I would genuinely care very deeply for. Ourselves.

Trent ended up being the party leader. A practical, genre-savvy, charismatic Sorcerer. One of the heavy-hitters in a party consisting of a Fighter/Ranger, a Bard, a Rogue, and a Sorcerer. He favored explode-y magic.

Wound up becoming a shape-shifter after a run-in witch chaos beasts and using magic to make himself "human" again. Though he was never really human ever again - just looked that way. Slowly he mastered taking on other forms as well - culminating in his master Dragon Form (TM).

Eventually he became the most feared sorcerer... ever. Honestly though, he got so powerful he probably didn't need to be evil (which he ended up being) to be that feared. He was a scary SoB.

He's also got six wings - which I didn't bother depicting because I thought they'd clutter the image (not actually because I was lazy! Really, I was focusing on composition).

Trent put a lot of thought and effort into this design - though I did help a bit.

It looks like he's taunting us doesn't it?

Excerpt from Destruction and Dragons He finished counting out the money, a modest hundred and fifty cheil. Meanwhile Trent struggled to find a way out of the deal. Making himself undesirable would be hard, because there was obviously some reason the elf wanted him. He could fight, but they might kill him. 'You're just going to let yourself be carted off then?'

No. He wouldn't.

The elf pulled a rope from somewhere, and approached Trent with confidence. 'You don't look so tough.' Trent made sure not to look at the elf's eyes, in case he could hypnotize him somehow. Trent tried to look defeated and afraid. It wasn't to hard – he really was feeling terrified. He waited until the last second and then kicked the elf in the gut.

Or, he tried anyway, the elf sidestepped and launched himself at Trent. The rope lashed out and caught him around the legs. Trent did his best to fall in the direction of the elf, reaching out with both hands to catch his would-be owner. He missed again and got his second face full of snow that hour.

The rope wrapped around his hands, acting on its own. Trent kicked at the elf's feet with no success. He struggled against the bounds, trying to keep the magical rope from tightening or getting a good hold. The nearby traders were watching, amused by his thrashing.

The elf was holding his end of the rope and waiting for Trent to tire himself out of give up. He suspected they'd have to go through this several times before the young man was broken. Trent was to old to be brainwashed, and not old enough to give up when odds were against him.

Trent didn't stop though. He could feel the rope fighting to keep a hold on him. Trent bared his teeth and twisted his hands to grab hold of it. He was surprised when he did; he could feel the energy pulsing through the rope. It made the weave of the object felt like the scales of a serpent, with the reptile's heartbeat underneath. Trent squeezed it tighter, like he was trying to wiggle his fingers into the threads. He could feel its heartbeat speeding up. The rope seized up, lifting him three feet in the air before going limp and sending him crashing into the snow.

Trent gasped and started throwing the coils of rope off. The spasm had ripped the rope from the elf's hands, and the miniscule man was digging around in the snow to find it when Trent had stood up, grabbed him by the shoulders, and shoved his face into the churned up snow. For good measure Trent planted his foot between the elf's shoulder blades.

"I said. I'm not. Going. With you." Trent panted.

The elf's was beating the ground with his arms, struggling to get up. Trent held him there for a few moments then got off and retreated back several feet. The elf got to his knees, and narrowed his eyes at Trent. He snapped something at the slave traders. They all drew their swords.

The elf wiped snow and mud from his face. "Good show. Enough playing around though."

Awesome. You can definitely see all the time you put into this. I think the effects you used in that chest cavity are the best part. Seems like a pretty uncomfortable form, though. XD

Thank you very much! Heheh - the chest cavity is what I spent to least amount of time on.

No need to be comfortable while you're kicking ass I guess

Er - random, but I'm getting my paypal set up tomorrow for sure (I just... keep forgetting) I made Trent set an alarm on his phone and everything. $20 is what we agreed on right? or was it $25? Bah - I'm willing to pay $25 for being such a noob and hassle for you anyway.

it was 16 for the hat, I know for sure - then I think I was rounding to +4 for shipping.

Hm, I think you might be right... 16 sounds familiar. I don't want to overcharge you, though. Do you want to do between the two? 18?

haha - no. 20 is fine. I'm not interested in cheating a friend, and the hat looks SO excellent. You should take some pictures for dA and submit it IMO.

I will. Just been lazy and haven't done a proper photoshoot of it. If you're good with 20, it sounds good to me. ^^ It was a fun challenge to do a hat themed for a character.

Seeing a dragon open up its chest like that makes me want to stab it. Blame Tolkien and a lot of video games for that.

Not at all. I'm not one of those people who freak out on anyone who draws ideas from their work. It'd be super-sweet of you if you told people where you got the idea though - but you by no means have to.

Haha - thanks. When we were discussing design ideas, Trent (the person ) really liked the idea of having a blatant-looking weak point, as a trick or lure, as it wasn't actually a vulnerability.
