Description 'tis the season for dusting off old concepts, I guess.

Specifically, these are derived from some alternate Links and Zeldas I drew back in 2009; one's more or less a straightforward update (visually, at least), whereas the other is a combination of two ideas. And on a more basic level, I wanted some fan-verses where Link and Zelda are the same gender. :U Neither of these are meant to be part of the official timelines, though they could comprise parts of their own.

* Dunno yet what to do with "Gates of the Realm", but I did age up Link and Zellos and redesign the former from scratch (the only nod to his old one is the blue feather in his hair).

My old notes mentioned Zellos disappearing through one of the mysterious gates littering Hyrule. Perhaps here, he and his entire team of researchers and knights were forcibly yanked through, and once Link catches wind of this he rushes in to save them; alas, by the time he reaches Zellos, all but the prince and one of the knights have perished by way of turning to salt. Link's future tasks include finding a way to neutralize the gates, and consoling Zellos (and also keep the surviving knight from getting splattered in her own crusade against the "demon realm").

* "Bride of Melancholy" is the one I combined stuff on (Zelda as the eponymous Bride, and the female Link from "Extensions of the Mad King"). Country girl Link has always been visiting the local library, but lately she's gotten particularly fond of one of its librarians, and to her delight, the feeling's mutual. One day, however, their visit is rudely interrupted by the royal guard, who haul the librarian to their paddy wagon. Turns out, she's the runaway Princess Zelda; her father was never a great man, but declaring that she would be wed to the son of a local duke whether she wanted it or not was the final straw. Link chases the guard and eventually springs Zelda, and the two go as deep into hiding as they can...

And still get found by said son-of-duke--who's actually just as disgusted by the King's actions as Zelda is, and believes that his motivations for all this are even more sinister than they appear on the surface.

Visually, Zelda is based heavily on her Four Swords self, and Link on multiple concepts for Linkle.
