Description Yet more crossover stuff, this time of one I wish I'd tried back in '08 (everything was Classic MM-centric then). Funnily enough, as I was working on this, news dropped of the uncut/unaltered Southeast Asian dub of the MMBN anime, spurring me to both complete this AND finally pick MMBN5 DS back up and kick Blizzardman.EXE's snow-capped ass. (Yes, past me got fed up with the turn mechanics that quickly.)

The main point of this was to redesign Durandal.EXE to be based more on his Inm. self (as opposed to what's now his Prototype self) and figure out what Vince's MMBN counterpart would look like.

* Vince, as usual, dresses like a slob in part to hide implants/scars; the latter came from missions gone awry, and the former were given to him to counteract an otherwise-terminal illness. (Unlike in those D: BH musings, though, he'll have a normal human lifespan as long as nothing goes wrong.) Unfortunately, those implants came from one Dr. Strauss, who only agreed to carry out the operation because Vince looked like he'd be useful. Cue at least a few months as a hacker-slave before Vince blew the lid off of Strauss's shady dealings, rescued Durandal.EXE, and ran for it.

In the present day, Vince and Durandal.EXE are essentially whitehat hackers for hire, usually getting called in for jobs that require human, as well as viral, baddies to be disposed of. Vince can still mop the floor with most people in a fight, but he's not a battleroid here, so he's in serious trouble if he over-exerts himself.

* Figuring out Durandal.EXE's design was a little tricky, since Navis don't wear cloth (unless you're Bass) and "hair" is either massive clumps or rubbery slabs; going with the former ala Blues.EXE would've made him look too human without a helmet (ironically), so I settled on that USB cable ponytail. Durandal.EXE's main ability is subverting entire areas of the Net and leaving difficult-to-trace back doors in case he has to return; he has more-or-less total control over the taken area during this time, and if he doesn't want you to go somewhere (or continue existing), you won't. However, he's so fragile that all a hostile Navi would need to do to break his hold on an area is shove him over, so he's heavily reliant on Vince/other allies to protect him if the usual tricks don't work.

* Below that, Durandal.EXE manifesting on his NetOp's shoulder via the Link PET_EX (Navi holograms are actually smaller than that, but that's apparently as small as I can draw 'em); he probably does this a lot, especially when Vince forgets that he can't last an entire day on half a burger.

* Remember my older Marathon/MMBN musings where I mentioned that Tycho and Leela wouldn't be present? :U Leela hasn't been gotten around to yet, but here's Tycho.EXE, who's his usual abrasive self. He and Durandal possibly aren't brothers here, but the rivalry remains.

The normal Robot-Master-to-Navi conversion process is a difficult balancing act of "can't look too similar to the RM/needs to be thematically-related enough that you didn't just slap the name on a random design", and figuring out how to make Tycho.EXE distinct enough from Inm!Tycho without straying too far away wasn't much different. Enzo's not shown here, but she's his NetOp.

Tycho.EXE is powerful enough that he often doesn't need Battle Chips to wreck his opponents; he's also capable of disrupting Durandal.EXE's area-subversion ability. There's also a whole virus family based on his code...which he utterly loathes, and goes out of his way to delete members of.

* If Lan and co. were still kids during this hypothetical story, Vince would be spending most of his time freaking out over them repeatedly ending up in life-threatening situations; thought about setting this after Lan's had Patch, but I didn't want to bring him/any other future kids into this either, so I split the difference and had this take place when Lan's 20.

(Also: strongly considering taking a page out of Squireprincess 's book and have Lan end up with Jasmine here instead of Mayl; the extension of Lan/Mayl, Megaman/Roll, doesn't appeal to me)

* It was only after I'd drawn this that I found out that post-MMBN2 Sean actually has a Navi parter, Freezeman.EXE. D'oh! Maybe Sean has two Navis...

The idea was that Sean would come back, possibly as the main viewpoint character; his partner is Xavier.EXE (or just "X"), a pacifist who is very good at manipulating human and Navi alike. So good, in fact, that every now and then Sean suspects that he's not exempt. (Presumably, Freezeman.EXE steps in whenever X's efforts fall apart, or the gang's up against something that can't be talked down.) X does care for Sean; he just doesn't want him trying to face cyber-terrorists and the like head-on.

I dunno how far any of this will go, but it was fun drawing Navis again. XD

LOL I love this, especially since I've been doing a lot of Battle Network related stuff lately.

Is there any preferred Battle Chips or Navi Customizer Upgrades that Durandal makes use of?

Also are any of these guys capable of Cross Fusion, and if so, how much of a Synchro Rating would they have? I kinda feel that Vince and Durandal would be capable of the fabled Full Synchro Mode.

By the way, I recently had cool ideas for what Sigma and Vile would be like in Battle Network. Interested in seeing?

Hehe. ^^

Hm...I figure Durandal would prefer AreaGrab and a combination of water- and lightning-element chips, plus any upgrades that would bolster his meagre defense.

Vince and Durandal would almost certainly be capable of Cross Fusion. XD (Probably Enzo and Tycho, too...I imagine a fight between the two/four of them would be quite a spectacle, especially if both pairs can enter Full Synchro)

Sure!

Ah, good choices for his chips. By the way, is Xavier capable of any of Megaman's abilities, such as Style Change, or Double Soul, or Navi Cross? I kinda figure he would be.

Okay here's what I had in mind for Vile.EXE and Sigma.EXE. Both who would go great as enemies of your Xavier.EXE now that I think of it.

First here's sketches of them.

Sketch of Vile.EXE. Notice the less Jango Fett-ish look while still maintaining the visor and shoulder cannon. His design is kinda supposed to look more like a type of heavily armed and modified HeelNavi. -->   i.imgur.com/PATFkmV.jpg

Sketch of Sigma.EXE. He's actually a Virus who gained the ability to think for himself, and has a face that looks like a cross between X Sigma and the Life Virus's face due to that. His other features are carried over from Sigma's incarnations in X1 through X4. -->   i.imgur.com/oBENeeN.jpg

Details on them.

VILE.EXE:

Vile.EXE here is essentially the Net Navi equivalent of a Hitman, and a Solo Navi. Before he was created and owned by a Gospel operative who used him to assassinate Law Enforcer Net Navis and BASTION Navis, until he soon got sick of being a tool to a human. Feeling strong enough to not need him anymore, he then hacked his Operator's house and caused an electrical fire that killed his Operator while he himself escaped to the Cyber World.

After that, Vile.EXE mostly made his home in the Undernet, and had to do what it takes to survive with no Operator, which he despised. But it became easy for him when he decided to make a living off what he does best, killing. He then offers his services to delete other Net Navis but at a very high price per kill, and does a great job at it. Later on, he later extends his services to killing humans too, either by hacking electronics to make them kill the human, or jacking into an armed Copybot and murdering them in the real world. So basically a Hitman Navi roaming the Undernet.

Vile is super strong though, enough not to rely on Battle Chips. This is mostly due to a bunch of Installed enhancements he has in his body, many of said enhancements being illegal ones that only a guy with a ton of money could get on the Undernet, which is like the Battle Network equivalent of the Dark Web, you know. His power level could be compared to Colonel.EXE, or your Tycho.EXE.

His strongest ability is called his Cyber Armor, which is like a Net Navi equivalent of a Ride Armor he can remotely call upon at will. He is also a skilled hacker who knows how to bypass most Security Cubes, and has SearchMan.EXE level locating skills, which is why so many take his services. So you know, he is a Cursor-Type Navi too, though some of his attacks are Fire-based as well.

Unlike the original Vile, he doesn't have a strong hatred towards Megaman. He only goes after him after some Darkloid decides to hire him to delete Megaman, and he doesn't care whom he kills as long as he gets paid, he doesn't hate nor love him, he's just doing his job. However he knows about Megaman's reputation and what powerful Navis he's slain, and as such, Vile.EXE comes prepared and doesn't underestimate his opponent.
Though like the original, Vile.EXE is a notorious criminal on the Cyber World due to his huge Body Count he's racked up, especially after he started taking jobs to murder humans and not just Net Navis. Also though his work is mostly just to survive in the Cyber World without an operator, he genuinely loves his work, and like the original Vile, he makes a habit out of overkill.

Last but not least, though nowhere near Bass.EXE's level of power, Bass actually likes and respects Vile.EXE, for being one of the Strong Navis who is no longer a slave to the humans, as Bass would say.

SIGMA.EXE:

Sigma.EXE isn't actually a Net Navi, but like Zero.EXE, he's actually a Virus who gained the ability to think for himself. He was actually reverse-engineered from Data Scraps of both Zero.EXE and the Life Virus. He was originally created by BASTION as a new Anti-Darkloid weapon.

Sigma.EXE, like Zero.EXE, has the innate ability to control Viruses within a given area, but also possesses a number of powerful abilities of his own. BASTION originally uses him to turn the Darkloid's viruses against them and fight them off. At first he works alongside Colonel.EXE, and Megaman also comes to respect him and his power. This lasts until a fateful encounter at Scilab.

Basically in the said encounter, Sigma.EXE is effortlessly taking out Darkloid Navis who had launched an attack at SciLab, and not just the cannon fodder HeelNavis, but the actually unique custom ones too. Until a certain Electric-Type Darkloid manages to take him by surprise and electrify him right in the head. Megaman and Protoman (or perhaps with help from Xavier or Durandal), team up to delete the culprit, but Sigma is left heavily damaged. I'm not sure who the culprit would be, but it would either be FuseMan.EXE, or some other new Electric Darkloid.

After that, Sigma.EXE is taken back to base, and although they are able to repair his normal functions, the electric attack scrambled his mental matrix, and they don't know how it will affect him. However, what they don't know is that this essentially gave Sigma.EXE electroshock therapy, and he begins to see things differently. He starts to view humans negatively, saying that they treat Navis as tools and gladiators, and wants it all to stop.

Following the event, Sigma.EXE starts to undermine the operations of BASTION from behind their backs, with them being unaware how he's turned evil now. Until later on when they find that Sigma.EXE has been responsible for a number of calamities, and what he's trying to do. Following that, Sigma.EXE escapes out to another place in the Cyber World and Megaman, Protoman, and their allies set out to stop him.

Last but not least, Sigma.EXE has multiple forms. His final form would instead be like a gigantic sized version of his head with wire-like things hanging out of it, referencing some of his forms in X2, X4, and the intro stage of X5.

Please tell me what you think. Do you think they seem good for Battle Network versions of those two reoccuring foes of X?

Also what do you think would happen if your Durandal.EXE, Tycho.EXE, or Xavier.EXE encountered them? Especially Xavier? Any idea on how it would play out?

I'm not yet sure of whether or not Xavier shares many of Megaman's abilities; right now I'm inclined to say "none beyond maybe Style Change".

Both Vile.EXE and Sigma.EXE sound pretty interesting! Though, I dunno if Xavier would have the exact same relationship that regular X has with their MMX counterparts (Xavier still wouldn't like them, as they're little more than warmongers). I imagine that Durandal.EXE would hate them, too, but also not be able to do much about either, especially if Vile tricked Tycho into helping out for one job (Tycho would break things off after realizing just what kind of Navi he's dealing with).

So Tycho.EXE has standards too? As in he would have problems working along with a Hitman Navi who kills others for money, including humans? Or would he just not enjoy working with someone who was formerly used by Gospel, or killed his own Operator?

I'm guessing Xavier.EXE would not want to fight them then and try to work things out peacefully, only to nearly get killed until Freezeman.EXE, and maybe Megaman and Protoman would step in? Though I also see him kinda picking up on Sigma's covert work behind BASTION's back ahead of time too, do you think so?

And given how Vile.EXE can hack through most Security Cubes, I could expect him to essentially hack his way out of Durandal's ability too. Like being able to either locate the hidden Backdoors super quickly or alter the code to add his own exits into.

Say do you remember my Chaotique.EXE I had you draw a while back? I wonder how something would go like with them? I imagine Vince would have a huge problem with some delinquent girl using her Navi as a vessel to exist in the Cyber World with, and has done it so much that the said Navi is now mentally unhinged and suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. I also see that he could counter her, given how Kaitlyn and Chaotique.EXE's ability is super speed, he could wall her off with his ability and make her unable to cause mischief. Though Chaotique.EXE does use Pre-loaded Chips like other Cross-Fused Navis and even will call for Viruses at times if she needs to (including the troublesome N.O. Viruses).

One last thing. I kinda see Durandal.EXE and Vince getting along well with Raika and Searchman.EXE, since they are also war veterans. Do you think so too?

Probably more the latter, though I think Enzo and Tycho (in general, not just here) would like to avoid taking blood money.

Something tells me Xavier would understand right off the bat that Vile is unreachable, and just stand back and let Freezeman handle it; he might try to reach Sigma if he thought there was still something of his old self remaining, but that hope would get quashed pretty quickly. (And yeah, he might notice Sigma's covert actions sooner than BASTION--he had to become a good people-reader in order to manipulate conflicts away, after all)

Vile could probably circumvent Durandal's abilities, yeah.

To be honest, I think Vince's response to finding out what Kaitlyn's doing would be to beat her senseless (or at least try); like his Inm. self, he doesn't take kindly to people abusing AIs/Navis at all. 'course, if she's not the kind of person who'd learn her lesson from something like that, it'd just make things worse...

I think they would, as long as we're not counting Red Sun (where apparently Laika introduced himself by punching Lan).
