Description So I've been working off-and-on this for nearly the whole month.

* Vince's group in both their default (left) outfits and endgame armour sets (right); I think this is where the bulk of the pre-colouring work went. By the time everyone acquires their armour, they would have little trouble with all but the strongest tower-borne creatures.

(Note: There may be something in particular deliberately omitted from that pic of endgame!Vince...)

* Lilu may be something of a horny layabout lacking in sense, but you don't get to be King of the Incubi by being a complete moron. Still, he would like to reconnect with his son one of these days and is apparently the only person in the Ashlands who doesn't understand why that will never happen.

* There are angels in the Ashlands, though unlike what most people think of when they hear the term, these angels aren't really akin to YHWH's errand-runners--mostly just bird-winged counterparts to the 'cubi who live even farther away from human civilization. The relatively low angel population is divided into four tribes (spring, summer, autumn, and winter); their wings come in a wide variety of patterns similar to mundane birds'.

Tsade of the autumn tribe is one of the few entities who can speak with dragons without fear of disembowelment (and not just because she's built like a brick shit house). Very solitary; bristles when faced with unexpected contact with strangers.

Mephistopholes of the winter tribe...well, it doesn't take long for Vince to grow very suspicious of how, despite apparently not being inclined to care about the affairs of humans/mages/cubi/etc., Mephis takes a good deal of interest in the group. (That little interaction with Durandal was before then.)

* Humans can channel a limited form of magic through wands and staffs. Lady Charelli is the first wand-user Vince and co. encounter; she's bound and determined to prove herself more powerful than any mage.

* Archmage Leela is, quite possibly, the most powerful of her kind, and the reason why tower-borne creatures can't get anywhere near her home city; naturally, she becomes one of the group's most straightforward and reliable allies. She's also not happy to learn of what her brothers suffered through without her knowledge...

* Durandal's neutral magic seems to be more powerful when he's enraged or frustrated.

* This was actually the first doodle I did of Yasada with an eyepatch (basically brought on by fridge logic wrt: what acid would actually do to his eye).

* Hybrids are often drawn towards powerful mages, though in Vince's case, it wasn't until after he and Durandal had developed their close emotional bond that he noticed that the physical side of his attraction was partially magic-based.

(Important note: this trait of hybrids cannot override their natural orientations or existing emotional bonds.)

* Freesia's white wings may be striking, but they're also too small for proper flight, and she WILL punish you for bringing it up. When not robbing the rich, Freesia hopes that Yasada will notice her charms one day (she'd hoped Vince would, too, but swiftly gave up on that).

* Finally, our first look at the Ashlands' dragons. They're feathery, ornery, and don't like you.

Seine, the dragon Durandal tried to call, is too lazy to raze villages to the ground; she'd happily devour all their cattle, though. She and her equally-lazy mate Elorn exhibit the typical colourations of their genders (plain and parrot, respectively); like all dragons, they have "third eyes" through which they conduct their magic--usually of the destructive variety.
