No no remote. And actually you don't have to hold down the shutter unless you want an exposure longer than 30 seconds. Most cameras range from 30 seconds to 1/4000th of a second.

great shot. if you dont mind my asking how do you take such shots? is it just a longer exposure? im no photographer but i am very into learning about it, so if you could answer that it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Yea it's a longer exposure, you pretty much put your camera on a tripod and set the exposure to like 3 seconds or more depending on what you want captured in that amount of seconds and see what happens. The tripod is just so the image stays crisp cause if your camera moves it becomes blurry.
