Description These two birds here are a couple of species native to my country; the Tawny Frogmouth on the left (the bird on the log), which is often mistaken for an owl, but is actually a species of nightjar. One of the differences with them is their talons. An owl's talons are large and are capable of grabbing prey, whereas a nightjar's talons are small and aren't strong enough to catch and carry prey. And then there's the Bush-Stone Curlew on the right. They make their nests on the ground, and people say that the calls they make at night sound haunting. But they don't sound haunting to me. They just sound like they make very beautiful calls.

Taken at the Royal Easter Show at Sydney Olympic Park back in April.
